Good TV shows to rent
Permalink Closed

My new thing is to rent TV shows on Netflix...ones I've never watched before.  So far, I've seen...

The Sopranos -- all seasons ()

24 -- almost done with Season 1, plan to get the others

Alias -- some of season 1. bored me to death...not re-renting

I was thinking it would be fun to get a girly, WB show to watch without the husband. Any recs? I have never seen One Tree Hill, or Smallville, or Felicity or Gilmore Girls...are any of those good?

I highly recommend renting season one of Veronica Mars.  It's my new favorite show - excellent characters and writing.  It's so underrated, it's criminal!

I've been renting Arrested Development and I LOVE it! So hilarious and creative. I also have become addicted to Desperate Housewives. I hadn't watched it before. And I love Alias! I had the first season DVVDs last year and pretty much entire dorm ended up borrowing them.

OMG - definitely rent Felicity!!!  That is like my all time favorite show.  So I highly recommend that.

I'm sorry Alias bored you to death - I love that show too.  Gilmore Girls is worth renting.  I'd highly recommend Six Feet Under and Curb Your Enthusiasm too.  I'm assuming you've seen Sex and the City but if not, rent those for sure.  HTH!

I'm going to go out on a limb and recommend the new Battlestar Galactica if you like sci-fi at all.  It's really well done and is more of a drama that happens to be set in space as opposed to technobabble and silly aliens.

That's exactly what I ended up deciding to do.

I started with Dawson's Creek...next up is Felicity...then Gilmore Girls...then I'm not sure what...

I Battlestar Galactica - although I'd recommend getting the new movie first then starting the series. I was SO not happy about having to watch this but caved since I make the hubby watch Bachelor & Big Brother & every other show he hates. But I've been so surprised - it's really good & I find myself with a little tear every show - so pitiful! But this may be good for both of you to watch if your husband likes sci fi or drama at all.

I've seen One Tree Hill, Smallville, and Gilmore Girls, and out of those the only one I really like is Smallville. It's a totally predictable show of course (they all are) but still really satisfying and it really sucks you in. I've never seen Felicity but I would like to at some point!

definitely keep watching 24 - you can get caught up for the new season in january!

i think veronica mars is a good one too - i don't watch regularly, but i've seen a few episodes and it's a good show.

i cannot stand larry david (i'm probably the one person in america who cannot stand seinfeld), so i'd stay far away from curb your enthusiasm.  a lot of people love it, i know, but it makes me angry.

arrested development is funny, but i don't watch that regularly either.

i'm no help.
