My hair refuses to grow longer than my shoulders it's just thin and flimsy. I read that taking prenatal vitamins are good for hair and nail growth. Can anyone confirm this for me or recommend anything else I can do to help strengthen my hair so it will grow already!

FWIW, for a while I was taking Biotin and the first time I went to the salon after I started (about a month or so later), my stylist was shocked at how long my roots had grown and asked me what was going on.
I only took it for a few months so I can't really comment beyond that, and I don't know if it strengthened my hair or just made it grow faster, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

My hair definitely grew faster and was shinier than ever while taking prenatal vitamins, but since I was also pregnant, I don't know if it was the vitamins or the pregnancy that did it. That said, I am still taking the vitamins and my hair is still growing like crazy.

I started taking prenatals a year or so ago and didn't notice a difference with my hair. Now that I am pregnant, my hair is a lot thicker and it's growing faster, but I attribute that to the hormones, not the prenatals. I've heard that prenatals can make your hair and nails grow like crazy, but in my experience that hasn't been the case--it's the hormones that do it.
Like Kelly said, I think it's usually the biotin in prenatal vitamins that's attributed to hair & nail growth. I would just take a biotin supplement. I thought I read somewhere that prenatal vitamins can cause constipation because of the high iron content...

Pregnant friends have ended up with amazing, luxurious, long hair that grew like crazy, and they attributed it to the vitamins.
I have a friend whose hair grew 7 inches during the 9 months that she was pregnant with her twins. She attributed it to the prenatal vitamins, but she also ate a jar of peanut butter (her pregnancy craving) per week during that time.

I take Biotin and Collegan for my hair and nails - I think it makes a difference but not dramatically.
You could do as those in Southerna California do - hair extensions......you don't need a lot to add a little length
