I just bought this bed, and so I am trying to finally work on decorating my bedroom. Here's the issue: My husband is totally opposed to hanging anything above the bed (he still has a scar on his forehead from a shelf that fell on him when he was little). However, we have very tall ceilings, and I feel like it needs something. Do you like the way they hung a curtain on the back of the canopy?
if not (you can be honest), what could I do instead? If so, what color curtain should I get?
Here's a picture of my window, so you can see the color of the wall & curtains:
and the color of my bedspread (dog leg not included )

Well, tell your husband that he shouldn't worry about curtains giving him a scar! It gives the room a cozy rich feel. I agree going with a color the same as the bedspread. I would look for something a shade or two darker and maybe in velvet.
I agree with jen and Courtney1982, I think a curtain behind the bed would be very nice, especially if it's a green one in the same color family as your bedspread. Gorgeous bed!
I love that look - it's beautiful. I am wondering if you can find something a richer color like the others said with maybe a tan / gold brocade or something? Some kind of heavy fabric would be gorgeous!

I like the look as well. I think the curtain would look really pretty if it were the same color as the window curtains, as opposed to the same color as the comforter. Then you could pull all the colors together using throw pillows that combine the colors of the comforter and the window curtains. Please show pics when you're done!!!
The curtain is a great idea -- I would try to find a rich, patterned fabric that ties in the colors of your curtains, walls, and bedspread. The colors don't have to exactly match, but I think it would make the look of the room seem "complete," instead of different patches of color in different places. Just my very non-professional suggestion.
thanks for your opinion, guys! I really want to do a velvet or chenille...I think it will have to be light-colored, though, due to the proliferation of white dog hair in my house..
My mother-in-law suggested grey -- I have a pillow on my bed that is ivory/gold/brown/grey striped, and I have a lot of silver accents in the room, and I am eventually going to repaint the master bath in a grey color. Is that too much, do you think?
