Is anyone else excited about this movie? Philip Seymour Hoffman is starring. He will be fantastic I am sure. I still laugh at his Lester Bangs in Almost Famous. It was such a small part but so funny. He is great. So I am looking forward to Capote but I will probably have to go alone as I don't think any of my friends will want to go. SO will go with me. I hope. Or I could go alone. Maybe.
He's an awesome actor. I'm wanting to go see it as well. Don't know if I can drag my hubby to it, though. With 2 kids, we don't head out to the movies often so he'd probably pitch a fit, and my friends wouldn't be that interested either. I'll probably be a loner in there too (which I don't mind occasionally). Post a review if you see it first, okay?
I'm definitely planning on seeing it. I love true crime, love Capote (and his books) and hubby and I both really like Hoffman. Plus it's also about Harper Lee, another excellent author, and it got great reviews. I don't know if we'll see it any time soon, but I'll post a review if noone has by then.
i saw this in a sneak preview in new york a few weeks ago. you guys should see it when it comes out! i'd even pay to see it again. philip seymour hoffman is truly amazing -- he sounds uncannily like capote, and gives a really complex, nuanced performance. even if you've read "in cold blood" and know the fates of the people involved, it's riveting to watch. you see how the clutter murders take over capote's life, and how it affects his relationships and his career, and that he's basically made a faust kind of deal with the devil. also, catherine keener is in it as capote's childhood friend harper lee, who wrote "to kill a mockingbird" right before the murders, and you see how her career changes. she goes out to kansas with capote to help him with his work and also to be a bodyguard, kind of. all in all, one of the best movies i've seen this year.
