First of all, their post on Britney's outfit that Detroit posted, while hilarious, was kind of thin because she actually looked GOOD. I felt like they were just desperate to write another Britney monologue... and who can blame them?


But this one today about Amber Tamblyn: come on, girls! How can you fug someone as pretty as this? I mean, the jacket is weird and the shirt is weird, but they aren't heinous, and the overall effect is actually reasonably flattering. Britney Spears in a towel and Uggs is fugly. This is not.

Dear Amber Tamblyn,


We are big fans of you here at GFY HQ. You're so cute! You're not a bobblehead! You're a pretty good little actress! Your Dad was awesome in Twin Peaks, and also clearly knows his way around both a switchblade AND a fan kick, thanks to his work in West Side Story, and God knows, we have no beef with genes like that. Finally, you clearly respect the power of properly fitting trousers, as saluted in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, a movie that absolutely did not make any of us cry, not once.


However.  This is a problem:

What? That is just bizarre. I mean, first of all, would it have killed you to wear black boots, if you had to do that Jeans Tucked Into Boots thing that all the kids are doing nowadays, despite the fact that it's killing us? But most of all, kiddo, that shirt is just....weird. I think with black pants or a black pencil skirt, it could have worked -- you could pull off the high-waisted look okay.  But it just looks weird over your old, kick-back, relaxed-wash Levi's. The proportions are freaky, and the jeans are way too casual for the top. It's just...it's really just perplexing. And is that a....zipper? Or something? All the way from your navel to your, you know, personal lady areas? Because that just looks....weird. Or is....oh my God. I thought the black band-thingie -- you know, that salute to Au Coton you've got on -- was part of your SHIRT, but could it be part of your JEANS? Or even, god forbid, just a crazy belt-type apparatus?


Listen, you're totally freaking me. I can't figure out what the hell is going on here. I'm just going to look away now.

you're right.  they're kind of reaching w/amber tamblyn.  the top is kind of weird, but it looks fine with the jacket over it.  i think they should go out on the street on robertson or la brea and get some candids of actresses with their own cameras.

you know, I suspect something's going on there... there was some writing in the recent future that wasn't that good - almost like someone new was writing... then, seemingly out of character for their typical advertising, was this book "The Myth of You and Me" (which I posted in general chat) about lost frienships between women... maybe it's symbolic... whatever's going on, I'd really hate to see the site go downhill.

I think Amber Tamblyn looks really cute there actually. I dig the shirt, the jacket and the jeans. I'm not certain about the brown bag and boots but that seems relatively minor, especially for the fugs.


I like how Amber takes fashion risks. She always looks unique at award ceremonies and in pics. I dig her. I don't think she's fug worthy. Boo fugs!

Lone dissenter - I have to agree with the fug girls. I like Amber Tamblyn, but that outfit is *so* not working for me. The pants are too bunched up over the boots, and the shirt is just plain weird. Her legs look cut in half, and her torso looks weirdly elongated.

Her makeup looks great though!

Yah, the boots are bad but the rest is cute.  I love Amber Tamblyn, she's so cute.

do you remember when they had Scarlett Johansan's picture up with the highwaisted jeans?  I knew she was in a fashion show and not out in public (i had seen an earlier picture of her in the show) and the FUG girls wrote a scathing report on her outfit- not knowing it was for a fashion show.


i was like come on guys- do a little research before you go out there and bash people... they kind of threw me off on that one and i haven't been checking their site out as much since then.

Not to hijack the thread but I had a dream last night where I was wearing Amber Tamblyn's shirt/jacket combo!! In my dream, my shirt kept billowing and looked really pretty but I couldn't decide what to do with the jacket... so bizarre!
