I started walking everyday (well, yesterday & today - but come on, gotta start somewhere) & I naturally don't have pockets in my exercise pants. I don't know what the heck to do with my ipod & my keys! I know they make an arm band for the mini - but I have the big (old) ipod - what do I do with it? I am going to a local park to walk, so I also need a way to hold my keys - so what do you do? You can answer either - key solution or ipod solution.
Sorry - i know this is probably the stupidest question known to man, but I need a solution. I am feeling good about walking & the ipod is really really helping. HELP

Ipod - I have a big one too (40G - so proud!) and I bought an arm band at best buy for $10-$20 or something like that. It just straps on like the one for the minis do. It works the best.
Keys - I always take off the one key I need to get into my car/apartment and put it in my sportsbra. I put the rest of the keys in the car or in the apartment. If you're not comfortable doing that, my friend always puts her keys in her back waistband of her shorts/pants. They flop around but she's used to it so it doesn't bug her. I don't think I'd like it. Plus I don't have as many keys as she does so I'd also be afraid they'd fall down my pants. Talk about awkward!
at the gym i take off my locker key and tie it double knotted to my shoe. you can also safety pin it (that's what i do when i'm mountain biking) to the inside of your shorts/pants. as far as the ipod goes, i just put it in the machine, but when i'm walking i just carry it. i found those armbands to be annoying, but that's just me. CONGRATS. on the walking.

First, glad that you have incorporated walking into your life (hope that doesn't sound condescending).
For the ipod, I think that the armband is a pretty good solution. However, it can feel kind of bulky. I always had a cover for my ipod bc I am prone to dropping things and breaking them and they always had a clip and I clipped it to my shorts/pants. If I put it on my hip, then I felt like it wasn't always hitting me.
I either put my keys (usually only 1 or 2) on my shoelaces or I have a ring (a cheapie from H&M) on my keychain that allows me to have the keys in my hand without actually having to hold onto them. Oh, another suggestion is to put your keys (again, usually only 1 or 2) on a hair-tie and wear it on your wrist. You could always do the lanyard thing, but let's be honest, that isn't terribly cute now is it?
Thanks ladies - I'm going to seek out an arm band & I'm carrying it in the meantime, but man i hate that. And I'm such a dunce for not thinking of the key on the shoe. i just used to go to the gym so this was never an issue. Just got back on day 3 & doubled my walk to 3 miles.....
& calichic - no, that wasn't condescending - I really need the support right now. It's just so hard to get back on track. I haven't actively exercised (consistently) in about 2 years - so I really need a push!
