I don't know if there is a better search term, but last winter I bought this Oliver & James Cashmere Blazer in gray from Overstock, and I LOVE it. I would really like to get others colors in this style (It doesn't have to be cashmere, but I prefer natural fabrics to synthetic for sweaters).
If anyone happens to see something similar during your fall shopping excursions, please think of me and let me know :)
Zara had some last month in grey, navy and another color I can't recall. I also don't know what the fiber was, but they were around $70 I think? I'd been waiting for them to go on sale, but i haven't been shopping in weeks and now I'm not even sure if they still have the in stock. But if you have a Zara near you, it might be worth checking out.
The banana one is gorgeous, but I can't wear double-breasted styles. It looked so cute styled over a dress on their website. It almost convinced me I needed it, but I know I'd never wear it. I am hopeful Overstock gets some again. I am going to check in on ebay too (they have one like the one I bought, but in a small - bummer!)
GD- I can only wear single breasted too. If you find any good ones, let me know? Your post has convinced me to go back and try to get the Zara one next weekend, but if it's gone I may need an alternative. Thank!
I will absolutely let you know. If you wear a small, the Oliver and James one I bought from Overstock is on ebay in a nice camel color.
Let me know if you pick up the Zara one. There isn't one near me, but I could get it online. I checked out their site, but I couldn't tell which one was sweatery from the picks. If yours works out, I might need some details so I find the right one online.
I don't think you can order Zara online in the US. I think this is the one I saw in the store, but they only seem to show the grey version on the site. I know I tried a navy one on in the store. It's called a Jogging Blazer for $79.50
There also this one called a Jersey Blazer for $79, but I don't recall this color. Then again it was in July and I'm getting old....They also show it in black and I know there was a black in the store.
I was checking out the jogging blazer after you mentioned Zara. But, since I wasn't going to get it right then, I didn't even notice that there wasn't an 'add to cart' button. Why have a website, with prices listed, if you can't buy online. When I entered my zipcode for the nearest store, it didn't list one at all, even if it were a few states away... not a good sign.
I was just on Nord.com and saw that they added some new sweater-ish blazers. Hard to tell online, but they all look softer than a regular wool or polyester jacket. Some of them might be knit, as opposed to sweater-sweater. They're gray, no less.
The first is Gibson; the second is Caslon. I don't know about anyone else, but I haven't had the best luck with Caslon. I included it though.
So my Zara was out of stock in anything but XS (oh well.) But the blazer itself was really nice. Soft but structured and lined. Hopefully they will come out with more as the Fall season goes on.
Overstock has the Oliver and James ones back in stock, in gray, black and a taupy-tan color. I just bought the black one for $60 (and had $30 credit, so you know I couldn't leave it behind for $30 out of pocket!). I bought the gray one last year and love it. The button hole stretches out easily though, as I think it is a bit too big. I am going to sew it a little shut this season.
