Next weekend I'm going to paint my bathroom cabinets cause right now they are stained a light wood tone and I hate them! Hubby wanted wood cabinets/trim in the master when we were building and I caved since I got to pick everything else out. Anyway, now he is ok with me painting them, so I'm going to get that Ralph Lauren crackle paint. I'm doing gold on the bottom with black crackle on top. Obviously I have to sand them first, but was wondering if you girls that have done this before have any other tips, suggests for me.
Oh, and I'll post before and after pics. Thanks girls!
Make sure you have plenty of space to spread out - if you can work or let them dry outside that's even better. Use a tack cloth after you sand to take off any residue. I painted with regular paint as opposed to crackle, so the actual painting process will likely be different for you. I would suggest practicing on the backside of a rarely-used cabinet first though - applying the paint correctly to get the crackly effect you want is harder than it seems!

my sister and I crackle-painted her vanity...the only tip I have is to make sure the under-layer is completely dry before you do the crackle part. Otherwise it gums up really badly, and it is really tough to fix (we learned that the hard way).
It sounds cool, though!

Thanks girls and I'll definately post pics, but the project got pushed back a couple of weekends. The hubby ended up having to work this weekend and the next two weekends we are going to be out of town.
