Has anyone ever done this? I'm looking for some general info on it, like salary, hours & what the job is like. I'm thinking about taking a pay cut & switching jobs right now, but I don't want to go from one bad job to another, except with less money!
My mom is a bank teller. She works in a small branch that is located in an office building. She works part time, Monday-Friday, 10-3, and the rest of them work 9-5 hours Monday-Friday. I think a regular bank has similar hours with a few hours on Saturday mornings and one late night until 7pm. Anyone I've known that works at a bank only works one or two Saturdays a month. The employees rotate Saturdays.
My mother started making $10 and now makes $12. She probably could be making more because they are always offering her full time hours and a promotion, but she doesn't want it.
I don't know how much you make now, but it seems that a bank teller is a pretty good choice if you are not making tons of money at your current job. There also seems to be a lot of growth potential if you are good at it.
Thanks for responding. Unfortunately, I am making really good money at my job right now, which is actually a bad thing because it's making it harder to find something else! Even if I could choose to do anything I wanted, after looking the info up online, most require at least 2 years of school, which would be fine, but once I graduated, I would be making half of what I'm making now!
My plan now is to start my own business, I actually posted a different thread about it (my confused post). After thinking about it some more & looking into it more, I have realized that I won't be able to do that right away though because I don't have enough money saved, etc., but I think I may have found a happy compromise that will be a step in the right direction.
I found out that pet groomers make pretty good money, still less than what I'm at now, but it would be enough to get by & a step in the right direction. I talked to a manager at Petco & he said that if I would stick it out working part time making pretty much no money, so he could make sure that I like it & would stay for a while, that he will send me to grooming school.
That would give me another skill I could sell when I start my own pet care business & it would allow me to work around animals which I love & get out of the corporate environment, which I'm not liking so much anymore. So, I am really excited & feel like I'm seeing some light at the end of my dark corporate tunnel!

That sounds awesome! I love animals too and would volunteer at an animal shelter each day if it was financially feasible!
It sounds like attending the grooming school would be a great step in the right direction for you. Good luck and of course, keep us posted!
