I interviewed for a job last Wednesday and I feel it went really well, however she said they would make a decision in 10 days. I felt it was a very long time, I usually hear back by the end of the week, then again I've only had 2 interviews ever and I got the job in both cases, so I don't know if some companies just take that long.
Anyway...I wanted to send her a follow up email just to keep my name fresh in her mind, but I only have her phone number and fax number. Is it ok to call her? or leave a voicemail? send a fax?
I would call the company and ask for her email address. A fax seems a little weird, and personally I would rather send something written rather than try to initiate a "please remember me" conversation.
I agree. And, yes, companies can take 10 days to make a decision. It's nice that they told you what to expect. Some don't (and people don't ask), so who knows how long it might take. If you interview for a public institution, sometimes you could go off on a sabbatical before they and you would know whether or not you were hired!
Do you know the mailing address? If I were in your shoes I'd rather send a "thanks for the interview, it was great meeting you and learning about your company, can't wait to hear from you" note than try to make a phone call. Especially because they told you it would be 10 days, I think if you call earlier than that just to "say hi" or check in on things, they might think you're impatient.
FWIW My company takes like a month to hire someone. 10 days would be moving pretty fast around here :)

I agree. The follow up thank you note (on professional looking stationary) not only works as a way to remind the compny about you for this job, it will also leave a good impression if you don't get this position. You never know if there is another position opening up that you might be considered for. Faxing seems weird to me as well and voicemail is too easily forgotten.
I hate to say this, but I've been interviewing people for hiring in my Dept lately and I get follow up emails/notes within 1-2 days (if not 1-2 hours.) Shows a lot of interest in the position. I'd send an email right away
