Not necessarily where/what category you tend to splurge... but what kinds of items just make you so weak that no matter what you just have to have it.
Some things for me:
- I've gotten better about this but sometimes I can't get over a great deal. Huge Huge HUGE mark-downs just make it so easy to say why not?
- I also have an affinity for anything horse-related. Images of horses, ponies, horse-shoes, whatever... I have to have it!
- Funky tights. Any sort of interesting pattern, texture, color... even if I have nothing to wear them with.. I have to have them. Japan seems to be the world's center for interesting hoisery (I kid you not). On my last trip to Japan, I bought 12 pairs of tights... that was over 3 years ago and some are still in their packaging.
I'm with ya on the whole mark-down thing, especially Anthro mark-downs and BR.
Probably my other biggest shopping vice is the color pink. Not just anything pink, but when I do see something I really like and then find out it's offered in pink, just makes it all the harder to say no

Im like that with the color green too!
practically anything with frogs on it i have to have, and sale items that look good on me is mine.
Hey Dot- have you seen this? It's super cute. I had to have it and I don't even have a horse vice. It's thin enought that you can layer it and be comfortable.
Squirrels: I see a squirrel anything if I'm browsing in a store and I'm totally weak in the knees.
Tights: I love colored and funky tights so despite not really having the legs for some of them (too muscular), I own maybe 25 pairs, including at least 10 pairs of black ones. I swear all the black ones feel different!
Weird shoes: Anything that verges on the funny/tacky...there's a good chance it will be mine. Like these? Remember them?
Shoes, although I'm not as bad as I used to be - but that's only because I have a husband now & take his feelings / money into account - not so much when I was alone. I still buy lots, but now the price tag per pair is very significantly lower....
And graphic tees!!! i can't can't can't stop buying them. Especially if they are $10 or $20.

ehh i realized i didn't answer the question, the first time. my biggest vice is deconstructed stuff. i see something with unfinished seams or frayed edges i *must* own it. i also love stripes. i don't own a lot of patterns, and pretty much all the patterns i own are stripes.
ugh coats. i just realized i've bought 4 jackets in 2 days. (my family is always commenting on the number of coats i have.) oddly enough my collection does not include a basic black winter coat.
BAGS!!! Large, preferably leather, gotta have, carry all, tote bags!!! Regardless the price, if the bag is the perfect size, color, and shape, I've just gotta have it! My most recent purchase was this one...
lately- i've been wanting to buy "things I'll wear for thirty years, or at least i'll still look back at them and think its a great piece of clothing." This is mainly space related (as well as my addiction to nicely and lovingly made clothing and accessories)- my closet has no room anymore, so i need to acquire things slowly...it sure helps when I buy a $100-400 item every once in a while, and NOTHING else. I am so not the type to go to the mall and come back with a bunch of things, hence my meager weekend shopping posts. usually I stalk/think about something for a month or two, at least, including the anthro black leather bag with tortoise shell rings that most were eh about- I think i love it and will wait a couple more weeks and then buy it. heh, some things i can't be talked out of
My biggest shopping vice is black cotton-spandex blend T-shirts--long-sleeve, three-quarter sleeve, short-sleeve, sleeveless; V-neck, scoop-neck, ballet-neck...I have too many!
I have some weird ones. One is light grey sweaters. I think I like them because I think of the color as being called dove grey, which is just a nice color for a sweater. I already have 4, but I'm totally drooling over this one...
They make a nice backdrop for my next weakness, turquoise and malachite jewelery. I have a lot of stuff that looks like this...
I also can't get enough medium to dark wash jeans. Although I don't fit most of them now, pretty much every pair I own is within a shade of this...
Add a silver cuff and silver birks and you have a total staple outfit for me.
Other weaknesses are the ocean, brown tweed, menswear, white beaters, and drapey stuff.
Buying stuff online from websites for stores that are in my mall. Once I figure out what sizes *always* fit me from certain stores (i.e. Gap), I start buying stuff online because it's so easy to buy a ton of stuff without going out! And for some reason, it's easier for me to convince myself I'm not spending a lot of money if the stuff is on sale on the website. *hides*
shoes: I already have tons but I can't stop buying new ones. I have so many shoes that I never wear (which drives hubby crazy) but I love them like children.
mark-downs: I can't resist a good sale. shoes: I already have tons but I can't stop buying new ones. I have so many shoes that I never wear (which drives hubby crazy) but I love them like children.
Whoa! Back that train up! Hubby?!? When did you two get married and where have I been?
