Hi all! We are temporarily living in TX and I have noticed a lot of people (females) wearing cowboy boots here, mainly with sundresses. I hate to say it but the look has kind of grown on me. So, my hubby and I went into a western store (Justin boots) and I tried on two pairs that I like. One pair was tan and would look great with dresses, these were more of a midcalf boot and looked very "cowboy" b/c the front dipped down in a "v" shape. The second pair was a very rugged/distressed (but not too rugged) olive green pair, they looked like snakeskin (but they're not), really good quality boot, which was a bit taller and less cowboy looking (more like a Frye boot). The guy said that the second pr was from Spain and there weren't many of them left.
First question - should I get a pr? I'm moving to Boston, not sure if people wear them there.
Second question - which pr should I get? Both pairs were over $300, olive green ones marked down to $350. I may get more wear out of the green ones as they look less cowboy and could wear them with jeans and some dresses. Not sure if the tan ones would look as good with skinny jeans but maybe.
I love cowboy boots. Keep in mind though I live in a rodeo/oil city so cowboy boots are the norm. I have 4 pairs. The Spanish olive green boots sound gorgeous and I think being less western you'd get more wear out of them when you move.
I have the same pair of cowboy boots I bought when I was 19 and still pop them out every once in a while with a sundress and I live in the heart of the city.

I don't think that there's anything wrong with the cowboy boots. I don't own any myself, but don't think they look dated on other people if they are styled right (think anything that doesn't scream country & western bar.) However, I think you might get more use out of the olive green pair. They sound unique and something that you can wear for years no matter where you guys get stationed.
Thanks, everyone! I got a pair today. Some of my girlfriends here swear by Old Gringos (apparently what Taylor Swift and other country singers wear). I got these:
Thanks, everyone (and Boots for posting the pic). I'm excited that you guys like them. I'm so in a fashion rut now and hoping this will help a little (or at least cheer me up even if I don't wear them that often). Anyone bored and want to suggest some outfit ideas? I tried on two dresses at the store that were AMAZING - one was a white-ish handkerchief dress - but at $250 I couldn't do it (but may try to fine them cheaper online). I'm thinking most sundresses would work though.
Metric- I don't think you look too western at all! I really like the skirt on you and I think the belt over the jean shirt keeps it looking very modern. That might be the key, wearing cowboy boots with more modern pieces.
Love love love all of the suggestions!! Thanks, girls! Metric, you look great - not too country at all. I agree with boots that the belt makes it modern - and also the print on the skirt IMO. Love it - thanks again everyone. I'm saving these pics for inspiration.
