I went to see this with my girlfriends this weekend. It was cute, but not exceptional. Except for the casting - which I thought was perfect, even down to the crotchety old lady in the scooter at the retirement community.
I think there were maybe 5 guys in the whole theater, and I felt so bad for them! Totally NOT a date movie, a guy would hate it, although there were a couple gratuitous shots of Cameron Diaz. She has the most perfect body
agreed, it's definitely a chick flik. I went with a gf. It's cute, not exceptionale (but it made me miss my sisters that are in Italy). ANd I love Toni Collette. She is great. Agree also on the cast, and on Diaz body
I really like the director (Curtis Hanson - LA Confidential, Wonder Boys) so I was a bit disappointed and confused when I saw that he was making what seems to be a fluffy chick flick. But the NYTimes and Roger Ebert gave it really good reviews and even the Village Voice, which is often hypercritical, had a fairly complimentary review. I know I could never get my sister to see it with me but I'm tempted to go if only to gawk at Cameron Diaz's wardrobe.
