2nd Baby Gift?
Permalink Closed

A couple we know is having their second baby. We somehow didn't get the shower invite in the mail, and I just found out about the shower yesterday (shower is this coming Sat.).

Their first child is almost two, so they definitely have everything they *need* for another baby, AFAIK, but what is a good gift for a second child shower?

I don't have children of my own, so am at a total loss here. I don't want to just do a GC to some place, but would prefer to have a present. Any suggestions?

about how much money do you want to spend?  perhaps you can get an "i love my big brother/ sister" outfit or something - that way it will be something special for that second child.

maybe something keepsake-ish, like a silver rattle or a special baby book or something monogramed or with the new baby's name (if you know what it will be)

since they are only 2 years apart and they are both girls, there will be plenty in the way of clothing, blankets, bedding that will be passed along. this way it's something special for the second girl that is hers alone.

something personalized.  one of my favorite baby gifts was a personalized blanket from Pottery Barn Kids.

if they didn't get this item the first time around, The Miracle Blanket is a nice one that should get a lot of use (I used mine all the way up to six months old).  I also got a lot of use between 8 weeks and 6 months with the Bumbo Chair.

If the mom is anything like me, her first diaper bag might be kind of ratty by now, I like some of the diaper bags and other pretty things on www.babystyle.com

You might want to look at www.onestepahead.com for some one of a kind items.

Another site to reference is www.burdickbaby.com.

Lorelei, I like your thoughts. I will check out some of those options.

Hotcocoa, we did a keepsake (engraved) rattle for the first daughter, but I suppose we could do a baby cup or something else for the second one. They're *pretty* sure on the name...I think!

Thanks!

Sometimes the mom-to-be doesn't need anything for the baby or for herself, but she wants to have a get together with friends. For this type of party, you may want to ask guests to bring unwrapped baby gifts. You can all wrap these gifts at the party, label them, and then donate them to a charity in mom-to-be's or baby's name.Cots
