Go White Sox!! hahaha, awesome! i love trash talking! seriously though, this is going to be a great series! you guys have great pitching and we're the best offensive team in baseball. history is on your side too- the white sox haven't won the WS since 1917! we ended our curse last year, you could conceivably end yours this year. but we're not going to let you do that! the red sox are looking to repeat and we have more veterans with more postseason experience than the white sox. it will be a very interesting series- can't wait!!!! GO RED SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know I'm getting in late on this one...but the Red Sox--Best offensive team in baseball? I'm a Yankee fan, but gotta say, the Cards are the best offensive team in baseball! uhhhhh, heard of manny ramirez and david ortiz??? manny is one of the best hitters ever to play the game and big papi is an AL MVP candidate- as a DH! they are our two offensive stars, but our whole lineup is powerful. i have no doubt in my mind that when we're hot, we can outscore any team in the majors. take a look at this. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/stats/sortable_team_stats.jsp?c_id=mlb&baseballScope=mlb&statType=1&sitSplit=&timeSubFrame=2005&groupByTeam=true&Submit=Submit&timeFrame=1 boston leads the majors in runs scored, hits, RBIs, on-base percentage, and batting average. the cardinals are a great team, there's no denying that. they won 100 games during the regular season, due in large part to their incredible pitching and defense. but are they a better offensive team than the red sox? absolutely not!!! (and we handled them pretty well last year when we swept them in the world series!) shoot, i hate the yankees with a burning passion, but i'd say that they're one of the only teams who are as dangerous offensively as the sox- definitely better than the cards. sorry, but baseball is one of my passions and i'll always defend my red sox! especially when the numbers back me up -- Edited by sfcaligirl at 13:38, 2005-10-06
Well, I will agree with you that the Cards ARE GREAT defensively, but I certainly wouldn't call their pitching incredible. The lack of a 1-2-3 powerhouse pitching rotation allowed the Cards to be swept in the Series last year. Incredible pitching kudos can definitely go to Houston, but not the Cards (though I certainly wish it wasn't so).
Anyway, I can respect your love for the Sox and am impressed by your stat knowledge as a dedicated baseball fanatic myself. That being said...I have heard of Manny, Ortiz (and Damon), but if I was in Torre's shoes and old Georgie asked whom he should sign the next big check for to round out the batting rotation, Pujols would be the name I'd put at the top of the list! He is THE offensive powerhouse of baseball!!
Well it's a sad, sad day in Red Sox Nation ... we'll get 'em next year. Congrats to the White Sox, though... as long as the Yankees don't win , I'm good.
