Oh my gosh, my husband is the hugest Yankee fan, and his best friend is the hugest Red Sox fan (hard to believe a friendship can overcome that!). He was driving my crazy last night, flipping between both games and calling his friend.
"We" (read = him) have rearrange all of our weekend plans for those #@*$& games.
I'll have my fingers crossed for them all weekend! The "old" Red Sox fan in me thinks that it's too much to expect a miracle two years in a row, but after last year I feel like anything can happen...GO SOX.
oh my god, my butt is going to be parked on the couch all weekend (that is, when i'm not nervously pacing)! i've already broken plans for tonight because i found out that espn will be airing the game (i don't get to see very many games out here in sf!). i should probably apologize to my friends in advance because i'll definitely be putting baseball before friendship if the sox make it into the playoffs.
i'm kinda worried about our pitching (especially our bullpen), but the yankee pitching staff hasn't been very impressive or consistent either. tomorrow's matchup will be amazing- johnson vs. wakefield, the two aces! (i know that schilling is supposedly our "ace," but i really think that wakefield deserves that title- he has been the most consistent.)
sweater girl, i totally feel you- i'm trying not to get my hopes up too much (we red sox fans have dealt with enough disappointment over the years to get too optimistic), but you're right- anything can happen!
I don't think so! The White Sox are going to kick your butts! Go White Sox!!
hahaha, awesome! i love trash talking!
seriously though, this is going to be a great series! you guys have great pitching and we're the best offensive team in baseball. history is on your side too- the white sox haven't won the WS since 1917! we ended our curse last year, you could conceivably end yours this year. but we're not going to let you do that! the red sox are looking to repeat and we have more veterans with more postseason experience than the white sox. it will be a very interesting series- can't wait!!!!

hehehe - i love trash talking too. I don't hate the Red Sox at all normally, just when they are playing my team! Sorry, but we are going to KILL you guys!
That being said - I do agree that this is going to be a great series. I was actually hoping they they would play eachother first round.
Boo Hoo Hoo - The game is not even over and I can't bear to watch the rest. White Sox are kicking the Red Sox's ass. What a not so fun game to watch.
wow. that SUCKED. i was following the game online on gameday (i'm out here on the west coast, so i'm still at work). it was still hard to "watch," even though i wasn't seeing the game in person. what happened to matt clement??? he's had a complete meltdown down the stretch- at exactly the wrong time.
oh well, we'll bounce back. we always do! let's get ready for tomorrow!!!!

Haha - I told you we were gonna kick your butts!!! Get used to it, more to come tomorrow. Go White Sox!!

I know I'm getting in late on this one...but the Red Sox--Best offensive team in baseball? I'm a Yankee fan, but gotta say, the Cards are the best offensive team in baseball!

uhhhhh, heard of manny ramirez and david ortiz??? manny is one of the best hitters ever to play the game and big papi is an AL MVP candidate- as a DH! they are our two offensive stars, but our whole lineup is powerful. i have no doubt in my mind that when we're hot, we can outscore any team in the majors.
take a look at this. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/stats/sortable_team_stats.jsp?c_id=mlb&baseballScope=mlb&statType=1&sitSplit=&timeSubFrame=2005&groupByTeam=true&Submit=Submit&timeFrame=1 boston leads the majors in runs scored, hits, RBIs, on-base percentage, and batting average. the cardinals are a great team, there's no denying that. they won 100 games during the regular season, due in large part to their incredible pitching and defense. but are they a better offensive team than the red sox? absolutely not!!! (and we handled them pretty well last year when we swept them in the world series!) shoot, i hate the yankees with a burning passion, but i'd say that they're one of the only teams who are as dangerous offensively as the sox- definitely better than the cards.
sorry, but baseball is one of my passions and i'll always defend my red sox! especially when the numbers back me up
sfcaligirl - looks like Boston's offense isn't so great right now huh?!!
well, we looked alright against buehrle early last night. graff's error was a huuuuuge momentum shift unfortunately. (he's been so great for us this year too, it sucks if people pin this loss on him- it is a team effort after all.) we should have one that game, plain and simple. iguchi definitely made us pay for that extra out.
anyway, don't get overconfident- you haven't won it yet. and the red sox are notorious for playing well under pressure (we were down 0-2 in the 2003 alds against oakland and came back to win it- and then there was last year, aka the greatest comeback in history). it drives us fans crazy, but they love to come back from the brink of elimination! don't worry, my boys aren't going away that easy...
