I need some help with my current foundation. It seems to be too cakey. I use either maybelline or cover girl and no matter how thinly I put it on,it looks thick.I do hair for six hours, and I'm constantly going,so I dont usually have time for touchups or anything. My skin is combination, and I care for it properly, but somedays I need something to even the color/texture out. My face makeup usually consists of the foundation, slight loose powder on the forehead, chin and nose and light blush.Am I doing something wrong? I've tried sponge application, brush application, finger application...AUUUGGGGHHHHHH! I love my makeup but its driving me crazy! I just bought some of that dream matte mousse and am going to try it for awhile.Anyone have any tips or good/bad luck with this? HELP!!!

I may not be any help because the best foundation I have used is pretty expensive--Trish McEvoy Even skin ($55). I liked it because it went on very smoothly and never caked on me. It was not thick and I didn't feel like I was wearing make-up. Have you tried a tinted moisturizer? I haven't used one but I have heard it is a good way to even out skin tone without wearing a thick foundation. Also, an esthetician told me to use mineral foundation which allows the skin to breathe--two brands she mentioned were Young Blood and Jane Iredale.
I agree with daiz519's recommendation of a tinted moisturizer. As she said, this is a great way to even out skintone without having a heavy feel on the skin. Tinted moisturizers aren't great for coverage though, so if you need a bit more coverage, you can either just add a bit of foundation to the areas that need more covearge (ontop of the tinted moisturizer), or just use a lightweight, medium coverage liquid foundation that is buildable. I personally do not know how the mousse feels, but it seems as though it would be a thicker base than normal. HTH!
