Retouching makeup

I think I have unrealistic expectations as to how frequently I should have to touch up my make up.

Would anyone like to weigh in on what and how frequently I should expect to have to retouch my make up.

I think it depends on your skin type and what kind of make up you have on. I have combo skin that can get really oily in the T zone. I have to blot a few times during the day (when I think about it.) My eye make up is usually the worst though. Crease-less or not, any eyeshadow has to be smoothed mid day on me. And unless I'm wearing Dior mascara, I have black smudges under my eyes by 5.

During days like today (when I'm working 10-11 hours 6 days a week) or when it's really hot out in summer, I'll just wear some tinted moisturizer, blush and lip balm/gloss. That way I don't even have to think about it.

Hmmmm. I pretty much expect to never have to touch anything up (other than lip products). If it doesn't last all day, I figure I haven't found the right product.

For very special occasions, like weddings, I do tend to carry a powder compact with me *just in case* but I've had the same compact for like 2 years and it still has the same texture on the top of the powder as brand new compacts have, so clearly I haven't used it much at all. For a normal day, I never retouch. That's not to say my makeup looks as fresh at 8pm as it does at 8am, but I rarely think it has degraded enough to warrant any extra work from me.

Now that I read Boots' response, I am reminded that eyeshadow does tend to crease on me and I would always have to smooth out those big crease lines after a few hours.....but that's why I don't wear eyeshadow much anymore.

I almost never touch up throughout the day.  I don't know if I am satisfied with the performance of my makeup or if I just don't notice/don't care.

My blush fades, but I never retouch.  Forehead oiliness is a problem, and blotting with papers is helpful.  But, usually by the time I think to do it, my bangs are greased and blotting won't make them look better.

What products are you touching up on your face?  Powder? eye makeup? lip color?

I guess it also depends on how much makeup you start off with.  If you are wearing a full-face, then I can see the need/desire to touch-up more often.

Laziness dictates that I never touch up through out the day. I probably should because I'm always disappointed with the way my makeup looks by the end of the day :/

I only touch up if I have a date or something going on after a full day. My makeup wears well for 8 hours or so. That said, I am not necessarily oily or anything like that. I find that primer prevents a lot of touchup

This sums up my additude. I don't touch up because I figure I shouldn't have to (outside of lip products, which I rarely wear). But, lately I feel like I look pretty bad in the afternoon (it may be that the 80 degree offices are contributing). So, I was trying to gauge whether my additude is unreasonable (or lazy) or sound.

Even if you don't wear makeup, it's difficult to feel fresh and pretty after being in an 80-degree-office all day.  I've been there, and it stinks.

I don't touch up as a general rule other than lip stuff (which I guess is obvious). If like Xtina says I am going out at night I'll add a bit more powder, more black on the eyes, maybe an extra shadow - but that's not really touching up so much as layering on.

My skin tends to be dry. I imagine with oily skin it's a different thang.
