I've been itching to do something a bit more creative with my free time (read: between 2 and 4 in the morning!) and while I thoroughly enjoyed making jewelry and will probably continue to do so, I've been thinking about something different.
I made this floral bun-wrap-piece for my wedding with flowers and crystals and loved it. After the ceremony I had my bridesmaid take off my veil and tiara and pin this on. It was just a pretty way to add in some colour-in my case the colours of the bridal party. The other day at Michaels I picked up an assortment of paper flowers and silk flowers and have been staring at them ever since. I'm thinking of possibly creating more of these pieces for sale on Etsy. Am I crazy? Would anyone else wear these? Or am I alone in the fancy-hair club?
Here's pictures from my wedding...sorry I don't have anything better by way of pictures. (I may have trashed most of my wedding album!) :(
It's lovelt! I say try it. The wedding industry is very competitive and expensive, so don't limit yourself by categorizing though. Who doesn't love pretty hair things right?! :). Plus it's always so therapeutic to create something with you own two hands. Etsy is a pretty welcoming community to get involved in too.
Why don't you start small and see how it goes? Make a $40 investment in the supplies, and put a small number of listings up. If nothing sells, not much is lost.
I could never see myself wearing them but I'm not a bun kinda gal. I could see them being used for dance recitals and brides/bridesmaids.
Thanks girls for all the positive input. I really needed it! :) And @suasoria...many thanks! :) I remember that feeling...the first time in my life I had ever felt "pretty"...
