Job interview!
Permalink Closed

I (finally!!!) have a job interview with the legal office at the gov't agency I currenly work for in a non -attorney position.  I've been stuck at my Hell-Job for 2 years and this might be my chance to get out and finally be a Real Lawyer.

I always blank at the part in the interview where they ask me if I have any questions.  I think partly this is because I've been so desparate to get out of Hell-Job for so long that I *don't* have questions.  I'd accept an offer on the spot, regardless of what they tell me about the job.   The questions I think of are way too overused/canned/cliched. (i.e. "what's a typical day like here?" "what's the most challenging part of your job?" and other bad ideas).   Does anyone have any good questions to ask interviewers? TIA!

congratulations, bastet!! that is so awesome, will keep fingers crossed!!

with regard to what q's to ask, try to tailor them to the specific agency, since you've been working there for 2 years, ask q's that use something you've observed and been curious about.  like what kind of an agency is it and what do they do?  litigation, non-litigation?  you don't have to post the answers, just start at square one and figure out if there are any follow up questions that you can ask from the info you already know.

and remember:  they are lucky to be interviewing YOU.  you are fabulous and have been under their noses the entire time.  i know that when you've had a hellish job for a long time it's easy to forget what a hot commodity you are but don't forget!  if you believe in you, it will shine through. <<<<hee hee that rhymes, i'm such a silly sometimes.

Thanks for the advice. I PM'd you with some additional info. (Didn't want to post the name of the agency in public, lest they find out I call them Hell-Job :P)
