I'm going for sort of a distressed falling apart seaside castle look, but sort of glamorous too.
main colors:
whites and creams
Accent colors:
candy apple red, chartreuse, blues and mossy green (small touches here)
I want:
pure white sheets, nothing else, maybe a tonal beige or light blue stripe on the fitted or flat sheet. But i've always wanted a plain fluffy white comforter- this may have to come a month in because of $$ shortages
Bedframe- it is a classic full sized brass bed (think handcuff bed, vertical slats), eventually (maybe in a couple of years) I would like a canopy black iron bed, oh so lovely
two pillows are white, maybe two pillows that are chartreuse or something
Floors are really pretty wood, medium tone
Walls i think i want them white or a slight offwhite, should i do something to one wall?
desk- see other post
desk chair- either putting a new fabric on my dad's old chair or there is a fold up greening metal one that i really like at anthropologie
dresser: I'm going to either distress or just stain a plain hemnes 3 drawer dresser and add my white coral drawer pulls- not sure what color- i could beat up the dresser and do a honey brown - i tried them next to that color and it was cute, i could also paint it and use blue-ish grays/whites/green sort of peeling-ish to make my room more ashy toned (i don't want it to be only warm colors), or i could paint it antiqued black or a pure white for a tonal look
Lamps: a little brass and crystal bedside lamp, my moms lamp from the 60's (it is wood based and sort of rounded, bigger at the bottom, the shade is hempy beige), and my boring silver utilitarian desk lamp
Art: I want to paint a rendering of a piece of coral, possibly an antique map, a poster of brigitte bardot that i possibly will frame, my mom's old canvas from college- it is a still life of a chair, a sheet, and a table, hard to explain, some of my other art maybe? I have some fashion renderings
Curtains: filmy linen or cotton white or beige full length drapes, i have a double window
I also have this table that i love:
and various little bowls and bottles- the one on the left is an abalone shell
i also have these hooks, 3 of them:
and i will probably get some brackets and make a shelf or two
i also might get some sort of wardrobe for storage (espec for shoes), but that is later
anything i'm forgetting- opinions and thoughts? has anyone seen anything really cool (maybe for my desk) that is shiny red laquered metal? I kind of want a black desk, urgghhh, i just need it to have the dumb filing cabinet. I also want a chandelier or some sort of crystally sparkley thing eventually.
My sister Cali's room is sort of like what you describe, except not quite as grown-up... we crackle-painted her dresser & vanity, and it looked pretty good. I will see if she can take a pic the next time it's clean.
PS- what's a handcuff bed?

i am going to go out on a limb here and say something like this:

it has slats like the one Erin posted- mine are evenly spaced. Its an old brass bed, not too sophisticated in my eyes, maybe to someone else it is
My room has a similar feel...its not quite complete yet but here's what mine looks like, Maybe you will like some of the ideas..I really like the crackle paint:
detail of the vanity (army green with white coming through)
this is my dresser(white with army green coming through sorry I dont have handles yet)
I got these curtain from target and I love them, but the bed still needs some work
this is above my chair, it has some old antique books and stuff (i also have 3 shelves above my dresser
First we painted it the color we wanted to show through, then put that cracke stuff over it, and then let it dry for a day and then we panted the top color (sweeping in one direction) and it just kinda crackled..its really cool! we got it at home depot
