I just got screamed at for not having 300 brochures on hand.  It's not my fault.  I don't keep a ton on hand b/c we have a major color printer issue here and need to outsource print jobs (which isn't my responsibility).  And the documents change constantly, so it would be extremely wasteful to print a ton and throw them away. 


I think I'm going to quit. I hate commuting 1 1/2 to work to get yelled for something that isn't my fault. And the person who yells at me is always the same person. He clearly doesn't understand cost-effectiveness when it comes to printing documents.  And of course, now the whole office is in an uproar (not b/c we don't have brochures, but b/c this guy wants to many at one time).  Grrr. I. hate. this. job.

Hmmm...I don't really want to get fired from a receptionist job!! That would look really bad (as if my resume doesn't already suck)! And I didn't think you could collect unemployment if you were fired. 


Grrr..at least other people in the office are on my side and think that he's being ridiculous by demanding 300+ brochures.  There is no way that I have time to do that with all the other stuff that I do.  I hate it.

Really? My mom was fired for something really stupid that wasn't her fault (boss was seriously a whack job who was out to get her) and she was refused unemployment b/c she was fired and not laid off.

I've always been under the impression that this is the case.  I'm pretty sure if you're fired, you cannot collect unemployment.


As far as your post goes Nyla, stick with it for the time being.  This guy is just being an ass.  The good thing is that everyone else knows it now, so you're not alone.

I was fired for no reason and got unemployment. I am in Cali though. Maybe your mom's boss lied so that's why she didn't get unemployment. I know that when I got fired and filed for unemployment my boss said that he didn't fire me, I just never came in to work. Right, that's true. I actually had to call him for him to fire me over the phone. Grow some balls you f*%$#@g a$$hole!!!! Sorry, still kinda steamed over somethign from like 4 years ago

The something like that happened to me. My boss fired me but still wanted me to work for a week until he could find someone to replace me. So I never went to work (obviously, who would keep working after they had been fired?) so he told the Unemployment Office that I quit so I couldn't collect. What a f#cking jerk. Even after all these years I hope he lives a miserable life and loses all of his hair. Curse you, a$$hole!

Nyla - I think every state is different. Here in PA, you CAN NOT collect unemployment if you are fired. I have many a friend that was sadly mistaken after being fired. They were expecting cash and time to look for something else.. ended up having to waitress to make ends meet, because they kept getting denied.. The state of PA will always reject funding if you have been fired.

That's what I thought. That it was a state by state thing and I don't know anyone who has been fired here and been able to collect unemployment.  You have to have been laid-off or downsized, in other words, lost your job through no fault of your own.

Exactly.. If you quit or get fired.. you aren't going to eligible, unfortunately!
