Costco just started carrying Morningstar "crumbles" in the freezer section - resealable freezer bag. Nice alternative to ground beef in chili or spagetti sauce. I really like it, and I'm more of a carnivore than a vegetarian.
TVP (texturized vegetable protein) is basically dehydrated soy crumbles. It's gluten-free. That'ss what I use in chili - I add it at the end, and it rehydrates and soaks up some of the liquid in the pot so it ends up being rich and flavorful.
Oh cool! I had just written off TVP because so many of them contain either mystery ingredients or definite gluten sources. Good ol' Bob's Red Mill. Thanks!
