I hate this and since I work in Times Square I am subjected to it on a daily basis. I also hate when people dumbly stand in front of the doors and don't move to let people get off. And I'm usually the one doing the slamming because I make no attempts to gently slither around people who are blocking the doors or struggling to get in the car before everyone is off.
OMG, yeah I am getting to the point now where I will actually DELIBERATELY slam into people in either situation, whether they are rushing on or they are blocking the doorway when I am getting on. I will push into them as hard as I think I can get away with without actually knocking them over or starting a fight. The other day I got a really good dig in with a box I was carrying, on some guy pointlessly standing in the door.
Other pet peeves related to living in NYC:
--people who litter
--people who spit
--people who can't be bothered to spit their gum out in a trash can and so just spit it out on the street or the subway platform
--dudes sitting on the subway with their legs spread wide, like they have extra-large equipment that needs special breathing room. so pathetic.
Due to the plight of one of our fellow stylethreaders - I remembered one!!!!
DEAD BEAT DADS (OR MOMS for that matter)!!!!!! Nothing irritates me worse than a person that does not take financial responsibility for their child(ren)
Also, I have to echo the littering one. A few nights ago I was behind a truck & they just rolled down the window & tossed out a great big cup! I was HIGHLY pissed off. To the point of road rage, so I guess that makes that a major pet peeve of mine.
