Thank you for asking! I've been so overwhelmed with taking care of them, juggling the holidays, and work, that I haven't had time to take pictures and post!

They are settling in just fine. I *almost* have them house trained. They seem to be getting that they shouldn't go inside and to communicate to us to go outside when they have to go. It's our responsibility to pick up on their individual ways of telling us, so it's learning process for us all. It's been really difficult to house break them with our freezing temperatures, but we're getting through it. My husband has been really good about taking them out when they need to go in the middle of the night. Eventually, they will be able to hold it longer. We did get one night uninterrupted, so that was nice.

Charlie's leg was doing fine, then he sprained his ankle running through the house. I'm assuming his ankle was weak from that leg being bandaged. I had to make him take it easy and keep him on my lap, but he's really well and running around with no problem.

Again, it's been really tough to watch them and try to get work done. Since we're getting better with the potty training, I've not had to watch them as closely, so that's taking some pressure off of me. T

They're both cute beyond words, are fluent in Mogwai (they make these really funny sounds - reminds me of Gremlins), have fun personalities, and are cuddly and loving. They are like to little live stuffed animals and are a lot of fun :)

They have been keeping us home more too, and I enjoy that change in our lifestyle.

So happy they are doing great and everything is working out. I dont blame them for not wanting to go outside to potty in the cold. Brrrrr smile Post pictures when you can. We have been looking for adult beagle or dachshund that is already potty trained and been around kids.. Hope we can find one

love beagles, but they do shed. I had a beagle and he was the smartest dog I ever had and extremely well behaved. All depends on how you raise them. All dogs will need to be walked outside and let outside to go to the bathroom. Dachshunds can't play rough and can easily get back injuries since their legs are so short. My little guys are terriers -- smart, and "big dogs in a little dog's body" and they don't shed much if at all. You can start by looking at your humane society.

Look at this little girl - housebroken and good for a family http://www.adoptapet.com/pet4851879.html
Adopt a Pet :: Carmen - Port Lavaca, TX - Wirehaired Fox Terrier/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) Mix

here's more: http://www.adoptapet.com/pet4851780.html There's a beagle, but he's not housetrained.

Here's more rescue organizations in your area: http://www.puppysites.com/rescue_tx.shtml

I would also suggest you take some "what is the best dog breed for you" quizzes to help you determine what would be a good fit for your lifestyle and household. Here's one, but I would try to find more quizzes and info on selecting the right breed online http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/search.htm
