The pillows on the ends of the couch aren't really as red as they appear. They're irridescent silk, so I think the red couch reflected onto them. They're more a peachy pink, and the ruffle around the edge is plaid. A bit country for my normal taste, but I thought they were kinda cute! Plus I needed some fall colors.
Did you get that chair from Macys? I have seen it somewhere. One thing is bothering me: The yellow valance with the yellow walls! Please change it to red or something!

That's not very nice!
I really like it how it is. The valance lets the focus be on the furniture, which is where I think the focus should be.
I love it. My husband loves that painting. I'll have to show him your living room with it on the wall.
Love that picture!!! I got it at Boston Interiors, but I first saw it in Ballard Designs' catalogue.
Courtney: I purposely painted the walls to match my balloon shades exactly so that my curtains didn't become the focus of the room (just as NC shopper said). Since they blend in well and are hung up high, they are a good accent instead of a focus, and my dark chair/couch ground the whole room. My fireplace is the focal point:

ditto -- red would look way too bright and out of place there. Also, I don't think she asked for anyone's opinion on her valances.

Well said, halleybird!!!
MissMee, I really like how you did your living room. It has personality and I (even though you didn't ask) really like the curtains. The combination of the matching walls and curtains adds really great texture and interest!
i really like the whole look of the room--you did a great job. it's impressive how much your house looks like a "grownup" house, even though i know you have little kids. that's hard to do.

I agree with NylaBelle. I love the matching walls and valances. The room has such warmth and your new pillows look great!

Thanks, you all! I love being able to share my house and wardrobe with everyone here to get opinions (bad and good). I also love my matchy-matchy walls and curtains, and people usually drool over my curtains when they come in. They look very expensive and custom, but they are actually $20 Target finds!
