My bro saved someone yesterday!!

So my brother decided to stay at his house in New Orleans b/c by now it is totally unsafe for him to leave.  The house he is in is fine - I won't get into all the details about it all - but anyways - my family was watching the news yesterday - and a caller came in crying for help for his father.  His father was 90 years old and was unable to prepare for the storm or make it out in time.   The street address  ended up being the same road my brother lives on - my sister took down the street address and called my brother immediately - my brother went over there and gave him water and food, etc. and fixed the guy a meal.   The power of media - it really is crazy!!

That is so wonderful, but how was your family able to make contact?


I have a brother in New Orleans (French Quarter) and other cousins I can not make contact with. I am glad their phones worked because I am freaked out and cannot make contact no matter when I call and I was unaware they had TV news down there, I thought the power was out everywhere.


I will have to try again. Glad your brother could do his part!

Ally - I have a family member in NO too. She's 80 and lives in the Garden District. Other family members had contact with her until Tuesday and she only had a few days supplies. Anyway, my fam got in contact with a Houston news team (who is in NO) and they are meeting up with them outside of NO this evening or tomorrow morning to go in and try to find her. I'm not sure if that's any help or not but maybe your local media can help? Good luck.


Pepper - that's amazing. Your brother is a great person. I think I know what news story you're talking about. Was it on CNN and they got a phone to the father and he said all he had was eggs to eat?

Bluebirde - yes - it was on Larry King Live. 


Ally S - yeah - my brother's phone is working very sporadically and he has a cell phone.  He was well prepared and he is using a generator to keep things running.  Glad someone got in contact with your family member!!


I'm sorry to hear you haven't contacted your family.  I feel for you when we hadn't heard from my brother for awhile.  Keep trying - b/c there are times we can't reach our brother.  Your family is in my thoughts.
