I went to TJ Maxx yesterday to return a pair of shoes that I bought exactly 31 days ago. They still had the tags and I didn't even try them on again at home, after I bought them. Brand-spanking new, in the original bag with the original receipt. Might I add that they are fall loafer type heels.. and when I went back to the shoe dept, they had dozens of pairs of these exact shoes still on the shelf, at full price. So its not like they were deeply discounted and would be losing out on any money.
Now I know their return policy is 30 days. After 30 days even if you have your receipt, you are SUPPOSED to get a credit. This is posted in the store. However, I have NEVER had someone question me. I have kept things for 2 months before and they gave me cash back. I guess it depends on who the sales associate is working that day.
Well the 500 lb woman working the register must have been having a craptastic day and just seemed like a miserable person in general. She was complete Biotch to me and told me that I had two choices.. keep the shoes or take a credit. ONE DAY after the supposed deadline that they NEVER enforce anyway! I understand this is "policy" but at least be consistant. Always take my return or never.. dont be all wishy-washy. Now I have a $40 credit that I will not use and nothing to show for it. Does anyone want it? I will sell it you and I will cover shipping. I just dont want it, nor will I be going in there for a while.
I have had to take many a credit at that store :/ I take forever to do my returns :(
anyway, what i usually do is just buy something basic - like a new set of sheets (they usually have some nice ones) or some kitchen towels ... sometimes if it's near christmas I might get some christmas-y towels for my kitchen or bathroom or something ...
ooh or a new set of mixing bowls. anyway, just something like that - it's harder to find clothing or shoes that you like
or actually sometimes they have some nice underwear.
