does anyone know the last time martial law was declared in the US? Just curious.

i just read something that had a quote from the governor saying that it was erroneously reported that martial law had been declared--it's actually against their state constitution.  i'll try to find the link, but i've really only been reading CNN all day, so i trust their info.  she was saying that they had called in national guard and other troops to support their police forces and they were authorized to use necessary force.
