Easy guy's halloween costume? And another question
Permalink Closed

Hi everyone!

My husband and I are planning on going to two Halloween parties this weekend.  I am planning on going as Angelina Jolie, circa 2006.  I will have a long black wig, aviators, and a couple of babies around my waist, etc.  I wanted hubby to go as Brad Pitt and just get a scruffy beard but he's not into it.  So my first question is - does anyone know of a creative but easy homemade costume for my husband?  Keep in mind that we live overseas and they do not celebrate Halloween here - so we have to be creative.

Also, is it lame to wear the same costume to both parties (one of friday, the other saturday).  Many of the people will be different but there will be some overlap.  I'm wondering if I should come up with two different costumes?

Thanks!!

How about Don Draper from Mad Men? A suit, a fedora and a scotch tumbler are all he'll need.

I think wearing the same costume is fine. As you said, most of the people will be different. That being said, if you wanted to mix it up a bit, add a few more kids and go as Octomom one night.

My boyfriend went as twister one year. We decided to go to a party last minute and he needed a costume. We bought the game, then he pinned the spinner to his hat and cut a hold in the middle of twister and wore it as a poncho. It actually was a huge hit, he will just need to be prepared for people to want to play. :)

He could go as waldo, he would just need a red/white striped shirt, some big black fake reading glasses, jeans and a cane.

A mummy, you would just need lots and lots of bandages.

a nerd, button down shirt, jeans rolled up, suspenders, some glasses with tape wrapped around the nose piece.

Grunge Rocker, layered tees, some ripped jeans, a beanie hat, an inflatable guitar (or a real one if you have it, or the one from rock band.)

I'm sure I have a few more but I hope this helps a little :)

thanks, girls!  gossipgirl - he doesn't want to do Brad Pitt for some reason.  Boots - we keep going back to the Don Draper idea.  Didn't think about adding the scotch tumbler - cute.  Maybe I can get him to do it.  He actually kind of looks like him (but looks nothing like Brad Pitt).  Thanks for the Octomom idea - I actually thought of doing that last yr but you're right it would change things up a bit this yr.

Jackie - you're ideas are awesome.  Love the grunge rocker and the twister ideas and will pitch them both to my hubs.  Thanks!

Any more??

The easiest costume my hubby wore was as a sleasy CEO. But, I was dressed as his scandalous assistant, so without the slutty secretary his costume wouldn't make as much sense.

Cowboy? Ninja?  Does he like funny, joke-y costumes or something more "serious"?

I'm not good at costume ideas today, but I wanted to say that I don't think it's lame at all to wear the same costume - I pretty much only plan on one costume a year no matter how many parties I'm going to!

Gods Gift to Women

Get a large box, cut holes for the head and arms. wrap it up, put a ribbon/bow on it and a large tag that says To: Women From: God....

My son did this one year and was a big hit....

Another is a bag of jellybeans....Use a large clear trash bag cut holes for the arms and legs, fill it with small balloons of different colors and tie the top around his neck with ribbon.

thanks, kelly, allegria and greendiamond.  he likes simple and witty costumes, although now he's bitching about having to go to two parties and saying he doesn't want to dress up at all.  meanwhile i'm all excited about my costume.  uggh, sorry for the rant - this could be it's own post.  i'm lucky if he'll wear a funny hat.  sigh.

kelly - thanks for saying that about wearing the same costume.  i was starting to think it was not okay.  i don't know what to do.  the party on friday night is a big one where lots of people i know will go there but nothing fancy.  the party on sat. night will probably be amazing, as the host is an awesome party thrower, but we won't know as many people.  trying to figure out if i should save the good costume for that night and just wear something easy the first night.  now since you said that i think i'll just wear both costumes.  it just seems like it might "steal the thunder" for the next night though, you know?  or does it not matter?  there will probably be only 5-10 people going to both.  okay, sorry for the rambling!

If it's only 5-10 people who will see you both nights, I don't think it's a big deal at all. I would hazard a guess that a lot of them will be wearing the same thing both nights too!

Could you call the people who you'll be seeing both nights and ask if they're wearing the same costume...? If it were me I wouldn't double down, sorry.

Is your man just not into costumes? Mine is not. An ironic t-shirt is about all I can expect from him. Not that I'm really into costumes either...I haven't had to wear one in years.

I like the CEO idea. How about a business suit and a long-ass adding machine tape around his neck = "corporate accountability."

hey girls - thanks for the input.  Suasoria - I did talk to a friend who is going to both parties and she convinced me NOT to wear the same costume, mainly b/c it would be more fun to "debut" the costume at the second party - her words not mine but I agree.  And it turns out that we are going to blow off the first party anyway.  By doing that we save money on having to pay a babysitter and a lot of hassle.  But most importantly, my husband now has a better attitude since we are just going to one.  He came across a female pirate costume and says he is going to wear that!  I'm thrilled that he's more engaged in this now.

Suasoria - love the corporate responsibility idea though!!
