I am always freezing in the Fall/Winter and I'm looking for truly warm PJs. I mean (I think?) i'm looking for expedition style long underwear. As it is now, I wear fleece PJ bottoms (tucked into my socks ), with a long sleeve T, a long sleeve hoodie, and a big acrylic cardigan- and i'm still cold. I would love to hear suggestions. I looked at LLbean quickly and wasn't quite sure about the different fibers aka Polartec vs merino wool etc
I'm not up on the long underwear fabrics, but I'd put in a vote for high quality flannel pjs.
Flannel sheets help a bunch too--no matter what your pj's are made of. LLBean/Eddie Bauer are good places to start. I would also look at outdoor/sports purveyors such as REI too.
No PJs, but have you considered a heated mattress pad cover? I have one and LOVE it. I keep it low. My mom is ALWAYS cold (though not as bad as you) and keeps hers on the lower-to medium settings. I would think that if you had it cranked up you may be able to sleep in fewer layers. Oh, and they are available with 2 controllers for queen and king beds. I bought mine at Costco, but BB&B sells them too. I know Sunbeam makes them (that's what we have).
I would suggest long underwear, personally. We spent our first winter in our house without heat due to renovations, and I got a really nice pair of long underwear to layer underneath my sweats/pjs. I like REI because they have a nice outlet/clearance section, customer reviews of many items, and a real honest-to-goodness no- hassle returns policy. And, their stuff is made for sleeping outdoors in freezing temps, so you should be plenty warm inside ...

PollyJean and Green Diamond- I should've clarified, I meant staying warm while lounging, reading, using the computer etc. I'm pretty good once i'm in bed under the covers.
Elle- I've never been to an REI before, but I found one nearby and I plan to head over there this week. Thanks for the suggestion.
VS is just starting to get their winter pjs back online, i got an email today with all the new styles. here's a couple i like: the dreamer flannel pajama, comes in a bunch of colors $49.50
the fireside long jane pajama, comes in a bunch of other colors $49.50
i really want to get one of each of these jammies, since i always freeze in the winter and they look sooooo snuggly warm!

If you are cold with all of that (and barring other explanations like if you keep the heat extra low), part of me wonders if it's a medical thing. A lot of people in my family have thyroid problems and they walk around with winter coats on even when the house is at a comfortable temperature.
