Looking at these pics I think that maybe only the 3rd one will work...what do you think?

Also maybe if I tied a ribbon around the waist instead of that big clunky belt...

Maybe I need to give the shirt up to the clothes gods...

I agree.  Why can't you return it?

Other ideas are a longer jacket or long sweater.  I think if you work with the vertical lines of it vs. chopping it in half, you might find more use for it.

What about only buttoning the top button of your white cardigan? Or just one button under your bust?

I'm assuming you bought it on a final sale or something?

I like the idea of wearing the cropped cardi with just the bottom 2 buttons done. It'll give you the look of a belt yet still offer some structure to the top part of the shirt.

How would it look under a long, belted cardi?  I could see those colors working with an ivory or a camel color.

Could you make a DYI tieback with some ribbon? You could stitch in a ribbon end at either side of the shirt and tie it in the back. That would give the top some shape but not cut you off in the middle.

Something like this (only not a dress obviously)

Boots' idea sounds good...and easy to do also. Another option is gathering some of the fabric on the sides and putting in a stitch or two...maybe right under the bustline, so as to give the top some structure?

Hi!
Can you try with the cardigan opened? Not bolero style ( just sleeves), but a regular cardigan, do not close it? Preferable dark color ( grey/navy/black)?

I like the idea of a skinny pant/jean/legging with the top loose and a long cardi over it.  The cardi will weigh the top down a bit and then create a long line down your body creating a slimming effect.  Right now it does feel like your chopping yourself in half...

I'm not looving it on you - you have better outfits by far. I like the long cardi idea that D suggested - I'd try that

Love Itsapinkthings suggestions...I think she's right on...the patter of the top looks pretty and I think it would be great as an underlayer for cardis and jackets in the fall.
