How is your closet organized (pants, skirts, suits, etc.)? I do and don't like the way mine is organized, and I'm looking to get some MORE ideas from you ladies.

I got those closet maid shelving pieces. Helps me organize big time. I like the color of the maple laminate, so I got a matching dresser, and it all looks great.
I hang the tops (except tee's, tanks, camis, and polos, and keep out of season items folded in the dresser) and hang them according to color: green, blue, purple, pink, red, orange, yellow, brown, ivory, white, black. It just looks much neater this way when you organize by color istead of types of tops. I usually dress by deciding which color I want to wear anyway. Next I will hang skirts and pants then coats and jackets.
Jeans, chinos, tees, polos, sleepwear get folded and put on shelves. Velour loungers, sweaters, tanks, camis, and underwear go in the dresser
Shoes have a shoe organizer to store them, this isn't enough room, so then I stack shoe boxes next to it.
My jewelry box is small so I got this neat mug tree and hang necklaces and bracelets on it. Necklaces going on the top poles, bracelets on the lower. I even hang a bucket hat that I wear a lot on the top of it.
Scarfs and belts: I got a drawer orgainzer that is sectioned into little squares. I roll up belts and scarfs for each cube.
Purses I have yet to tackle. They are just piled onto eachother! I need to go to Linen's and Things and get inspired.
i'm anal about my closet too, mainly b/c i don't have a lot of space. i rotate everything seasonally. all my stuff that is specifically for winter is currently folded away.
i group my shirts by color & then sleeve length. my skirts are hanging in order from work to casual, with a special grouping for denim.
then pants going from cropped to long.
in the spring i stuffed newspaper into my boots and put them away until fall.
my going out tops and tanks are all folded in a drawer, along with casual tees (like polos and such) and denim minis.
i fold all my sweaters, they're on the shelf above my closet.
my jeans are folded along the crease and in these really great storage bin things from ikea.
ideally i like to have most of my clothing visible, mainly b/c i'll forget that i have something and then not wear it, which is such a waste.
WOW - THANKS! You ladies are great, and have some great closet org. ideas. I'm like you honey, I have so many clothes jam packed in my closet, that sometimes I'll forget I have them! LOL Oh well. LOL

shelves: (OK, I only have one shelf, between double-decker rods) sweaters & my hanging-around-the-house jeans.
hanging:(I have one double-decker bar, one tall bar and one low bar) Top bar: all my shirts/tops, organized first by color (black-blue-green-purple-red-pink-yellow-ivory-white), and then by sleeve length within each color. Bottom bar: jackets/blazers, then skirts (again, by color). Tall bar: dresses, again by color, and then jeans (by color), then dress pants (by color) and finally capris (you guessed it...by color). My low bar is basically empty, since it's on the other side of the closet, but that's where I put my belts and extra hangers. I keep jewelry in my wooden jewelry box.
shoes: My closet has this fabulous array of wide, short shelves that screamed "shoes!" to me when I saw it. So my shoes are grouped on the shelves like this: sneakers; colored & brown sandals; black sandals; black pumps/heels; evening shoes/dressy sandals; brown or colored pumps; metallic shoes (I have lots); then flip-flops. Boots are on a top shelf that I can't reach without help, but I only have like 3 pairs, so I will store them on the floor for the 2 months when it's cold enough to wear them.
edit: I forgot purses/bags -- they are on a high shelf above my tall closet bar.

You ladies are AWESOME, this has given me MORE closet org. ideas. I keep telling my honey that I want my closet to have double rods instead of single rods, then I think I would have MORE space for my shirts & skirts (those runneth over), but he said that'll be a FUTURE project, so OK. Halley - I somewhat have my shoes arranged like yours, by color then by the style, it somewhat makes it easier for me when I'm picking out a shoe to wear, so THANKS AGAIN!

as soon as we move i am going to the Container Store to get their Elfia (is that right?) system for my closet! You give them the dimensions of your closet and how much clothes, shoes, etc. you have and they create a system for you. Best thing is, I am ordering it in Jan so I will get 20% off!! yippee!!!! It is going to be about $750-1000 but i have always dreamed of a perfect closet and this will be how i acheive it!
OMG! How I LOVE The Container Store, I get lost in that place every time I go! LOL I've heard/read about those Elfa closet systems, so bex, I'm JEALOUS! You'll have to tell me all about it once you have it done!

Where can I get this?! I NEED THIS!! LOL And how much?
I got mine @ Ross for only $4--total fluke. The photo's from the Container Store & I think they're going for $10 online. We don't have a CS in Honolulu & unfortunately, they're adding an additional $25 to ship to me. Grrr...
