Advertising Question

Hello. I am in charge of selling advertising space in a career guide we are putting together for our students.  It's a self-supporting publication that requires prepayment.  I set July 14th as the due date for art and $$.  I have a list of advertisers who showed interest in advertising, and each indicated which size ad they were interested in.  The size and number of ads affects content, and I cannot change the total number of pages of the publication.  I haven't heard back from these people.

Can I follow up with those who showed interest, and, if so, how should I go about it?  I'm just not sure what to say because the final date isn't for 2 weeks.  I guess I could use the fact that it is the beginning of July as a convenient date to check in.

Your thoughts?

This is not my normal job, if you couldn't tell...

:)

Thanks.

I think it's fine to check in on the potential buyers. You aren't asking them for the money or a commitment, just confirming their interest. You could use it as an opportunity to go over their ad format and make any changes before it goes to print. If they aren't interested any longer, it gives them an out and if they want to upgrade, it gives them a chance to work on a new format.

It may not hurt to call each of them and remind them of the due date and ask if they have any questions or need any help, ect.
