Ok, so I currently rent a townhouse apartment. Standard floor plan with one of those open first floors~kind of L shaped. I absolutely positively have to start redecorating (on a budget) now that I have "cleaned out the bad energy" as my friends refer to having gotten rid of the estranged husband.
Let's see, stats: 1 full bath, 1 half bath, kitchen area, dining area, livingroom area, 2 bedrooms, basement is divided into two rooms, one of which is finished.
So...I am in desperate need of inspiration. Keep in mind that I have a two year old son.
Any ideas? Sites? Pics? I'd like it to look more bright, airy and open than it is now, but still retain a european element...I'm from Germany.
The HGTV website has a place where you can go to click on styles of decor that you like, or specific rooms that you want to tackle to get ideas. My friend found it very inspirational.
Is there any specific color scheme you'd like to try? Are you a neutral, cool or warm toned person?
I have a dark/medium french blue den/study that everybody seems to just LOVE! I had no idea it would look this great on the walls. Don't be afraid to try fun paint colors.
Or, if you are a little color shy, I like a colored white, if that makes any sense. The paint is basically white, with a hint of color to it, then you accesssorize in the color to bring it out. It's a cautious way to experiment with color.
GD...thanks for the reply. I have lots of color going on right now. The dining area is a deep mediteranean blue (they call is sapphire), and the livinggroom is dark green. At this stage I want to keep the same color in the dr (love it) but change the lr. Something lighter and brighter and "not so colorful". I need calm! :)
Hmm, if you are going for a "not-so-colorful" look in your living room, since your dining room already has beautiful but saturated color, you have a few options. Personally I would do a beautiful taupe or a kind of tan color on the living room walls. This always looks so sophisticated and understated, and is not as boring as white or beige.....a very calm color.
or, you could go with a pastel color if that's your style, such as a light blue which would coordinate really well with your dining room.....
