This was in an email from Glamour today. I wonder if this really works? I'm getting ready to change razors so I might try it.
Now that summers officially in full swing, staying silky smooth is my new beauty MO. Thats why I was super excited when I came across this old tip on Lifehacker thats supposed to prolong the life of your razors. They say that after each shave, dry your razor and then let it soak in a glass of mineral oil (or baby oilits pretty much the same thing).
The idea is that the oil prevents the dulling minerals in water from hanging out on and deteriorating the blade. It also helps keep the metal strips from oxidizingits a trick that was originally meant for traditional old-school straight razors, but when this tip was tested on a disposable razor, it worked. They say the blade lasted much longer than usual. The only drawback: It melted away the little moisture strip that most of the lady razors come equipped with.
