Does anyone have a recipe for sangria that is easy but still yummy? All the recipes I've ever looked at just seem so complicated. I prefer red over white.
I really don't know how many people will be stopping by so I thought sangria would be good b/c I can make a large batch ahead of time and people can help themselves. Are there any other options that are similar and would appeal to a variety of women?
Also, the cheaper the better. I'll be serving a variety of hors d'oeuvres as well, which have some expensive ingredients. However the whole point of the party is to make money, so I do need to have alcohol...the more they drink, the more they'll buy!
TIA!

Honestly I usually wing it - couple of bottles of cheap red Spanish wine, sliced lemons and oranges and maybe frozen peaches, and triple sec to taste. Throw it all in a punch bowl and there ya go.
This is what i do (and I've been told my Sangria is very tasty.)
1 bottle of red wine (don't spend a lot but don't go for the cheapest. Like anything, if the indigents taste bad, the results will taste bad. I usually buy Yellow Tail Shiraz. It's under $10 but tastes OK and has enough fruit flavor to make the drink work.)
1 cup of simple syrup (make this by boiling 2 cups of sugar to 1 cup of water. Stir and and boil until all the sugar is dissolved, usually about 5-6 minutes for me. Cool before using.)
1/2 cup of rum or brandy (not both. I never have brandy so I always use rum)
1 lemon (sliced)
1 orange (sliced)
A bunch of grapes (frozen)
Pour the wine into a large pitcher. Pour in the rum and 1/2 of the simple syrup into the pitcher. Taste. If it's too boozey, pour in more of the simple syrup until you like the taste. Remember, it will get stronger the longer you let the flavors marry in the fridge. Mix in the sliced lemon and orange and mix well. Refrigerate for a few hours (I like to make it the night before the party or the morning of.)
Use the frozen grapes instead of ice (they won''t dilute the drink like ice cubes will.)
I've also been told I make a good sangria, so here is the red version:
2 bottles red wine 1 container orange juice concentrate, defrosted (don't mix with water, but save the cardboard tube for measuring) rum and triple sec (fill cardboard oj tube 2/3 with rum (I prefer dark rum. Coconut rum is good too, but scale back a bit on the proportion and add more triple sec. Of course, not everyone likes coconut rum.) and 1/2 with triple sec) lemon-lime pop approx 1 c. sugar sliced lemons, limes and oranges. Frozen strawberries are nice too, to help keep it cold.
Mix together ingredients, adding pop last. Adjust to taste.
