Shoe Storage...???
Permalink Closed

I guess this gets posted here, if not, D, pls. move it. LOL

How do most of you keep your shoes stored? I have most of mine in the boxes they originally came in, OR those clear plastic shoe boxes.

Sometimes, I forget what shoes I have in those boxes....LOLno

Some of my shoe boxes I took pics and have them on the outside, so I'll KNOW which shoes are in there...LOLdisbelief

Not sure if I like the shoe racks, NOR have the room.

Any suggestions?

TIA

My shoes are all over the place since we moved and have less closet space. Right now, the shoes I don't wear that often are in a huge cardboard box. The others are stacked on and under my rolling rack, and others still, are stuff under my bed. Not efficient.

I'm planning to buy some bookshelves (like the Billy bookcase from IKEA) and put my shoes on those and mount a pretty curtain on the shelves themselves so it looks a little neater than shelves of shoes.

I have a tall bookshelf. Just a simple put it together yourself white one. My thought is to put a curtain to add a decorative touch but that hasn't happened...yet. I don't know if you'd have the space but it works pretty well. The only downside is I could use a few more shelves.

I love that bookcase idea! My closet now has shelves (although they're overflowing so I have been putting tennis shoes, etc. just on the floor) but I'm going to move soon into a place with very little closet space and I've been wondering what to do!

I have shoe shelves around the perimeter of our small walk-in closet, just the stackable wood laminate kind you find at Bed Bath & Beyond or Target.  The only drawback I've found with these is that heels higher than 3 or 3.5 inches don't fit anywhere except on the top shelf, so if you have alot of higher heels they may not work for you at all.

When we lived in an apartment and couldn't fit shoes in the closet, they used to live under the bed.  That was before there was such a thing as Shoes Under, which would have made life easier (mine were in a large flat storage bin w/out dividers).

I know Ikea has some good shoe storage stuff, some of it furniture and some of it hanging organizer-type deals.  Have you checked there?

I *think* Lilykind, or perhaps someone else has some sort of round wheel-o-shoes storage system. Check out the search feature and look for back-log on shoe storage. I know we've brought this up before.

I kind of like the bookshelf idea! I wonder if the shelf would be deep enough for shoes. I have so much room in my brm I wouldnt mind a using a corner for a bookshelf w shoes and purses.

The bookshelf I have, the shelves are just over 9 and a half inches deep. I wear a size 6 and there is room to spare.

I leave mine in my original boxes but I take wallet size pictures of the shoes and paste them to the outside of the boxes

I gather all my shoes at the end of the day and put them in the corner of the room. from where they cannot be seen unless you pay attention towards them. I have door curtain which covers them partially.

On the "are IKEA Billy bookshelves deep enough" question:

- For our children (6 and 8), easily. Five pairs of shoes on an 80cm wide Billy.

- For my wife (size 4 1/2 UK shoes), OK. Three pairs of shoes, toe-in, on said Billy.

- For me (size 10 UK), No. Shoes have to go in sideways cry.gif

We ended up making a hanging rack out of cotton that sits on the inside of the closet in the hall. This stores the "everyday" shoes.

Wellies live by the back door.

Non-every shoes (mostly my wife's) live in boxes in various places. Stuff that's really "outdoor" mainly downstairs, stuff that's mainly "for wearing with balldress" live in the dressing room.

Regards,

Mark
