I've been going through my summer clothes, trying to find things to freshen up my outfits now that we are breaking 50 degrees here. I have a few floral shirts (one that I forgot I even owned!) that I'll wear under lighter cardis and structured cotton skirts that can be worn without tights but with boots.
What are your favorite transitional pieces going from season to season?
I found a really cute trench coat at Forever 21 that has been working really well for the early mornings when I head to work and when I go out at night when it is slightly cooler.
I wasn't sure if I should have bought it or not but now that it is here I'm glad I have it.
My fave transitionals would have to be jersey or knit dresses. In the summer they are great with sandals, easy breezy. In the fall or even winter they work layered with tights and a cardigan. I find that most of my wardrobe works year-round.
Floral dresses. I'm wearing them right now with black tights and chunky sandals or boots, and either a cardigan over top or a l/s t layered underneath.

since we have a huge temperature range throughout the year here in mn, i have a summer and a winter wardrobe. the few things that i do wear year-round are: tank tops- wear them alone in the summer, under tees in the fall/spring, and layered with sweaters/long sleeved shirts in the winter hoodies- wear them with shorts on cooler summer nights, layer them in the winter jeans- obviously dresses- as long as they aren't summery or wintery fabric/patterned, i wear them year round, adding or subtracting a cardigan, thick tights, tall boots, tank tops as needed.

I live in a fairly temperate climate, so a majority of my wardrobe stays out year round too, especially since I like to layer pretty much all year!
I mostly start to ditch the tights and wear brighter colors or more combinations of colors. My winter default is to mix one colored items with lots of other neutrals (or go neutral altogether), so when spring rolls around I start to incorporate more items with patters and mixing colors to make it look a little more whimsical.
My favorite 'new' color combos this spring are coral with purple/lavender or navy with mustard or fuschia. Come to think of it, I've been wearing quite a bit of navy instead of brown and black. Feels fresher!
