I just don't know how to get rid of my split ends! I get my hair cut once a month just to get rid of them but it never fails they just come back! My hair is cut short to get rid of them and it just doesn't seem like it will ever get longer because of the split ends. I tried a hot oil treatment once and it didn't seem to do anything. So I'm hoping some of you girls can give me some suggestions! Thanks!

Hmm that is strange that you get your hair cut once a month and they still come back. I vote for a deep conditioning treatment once a week and some good shampoo and conditioner. What are you using now? Your stylist should be able to suggest something that will stop this but they might not carry the right brands.
What do yo do to your hair? I use a blow dryer, flat iron and have below shoulder length hair and don't have split ends. I cut my hair one, maybe twice a year. Maybe your lacking in the vitamin department? I take a Flinstones (yes the kiddy stuff) vitamin daily. Or do you live in dry weather? I use to live a desert climate (and would see a few split ends), but when I moved to the rainy evergreen side of WA, my hair never looked more fabulous.
def. recommend a deep conditioner once a week- leave on for about 1/2 hour to an hour and you will see AMAZING results. the shampoo and conditioner you use will have something to do with this as well. i would also recommend not washing your hair everyday if you can get away with it. also, i take calcium everyday to help with my hair/nail strength. i have used all of the above techniques and my hair is growing and staying healthy while doing so- which has never happened to me before!
I'm sure it's me lacking vitamins! I have to wash my hair everyday, if not it gets really gross! I also blow dry everyday (have to) and used to straighten my hair everyday but since the split ends became a problem I don't do it everyday. Shampoos/conditioners I have to switch every few months but I use Aveda and Frederic Fekkai. Can you girls recommend any really good deep conditioning treatments? Also, should I just comb my hair through when it's wet, instead of using a brush? I asked my stylist what I should do and she wasn't any help, so I'm glad you all have some suggestions!

Oh don't brush your hair when it is wet. That kills it and probably contributes to the split ends. Comb your hair with a wide tooth comb (from sally's) and make sure the bottom of the teeth are coated.
Also if your brush is plastic bristles switch to boar brush (sp?) It is softer and won't rip your hair out. They are sold at Walmart.
I don't know why the pic is doing this but its posting over here ->
As someone who has finally put an end to split ends, I have a bunch of suggestions.
1. If you dye your hair, have it colored as dark as you can stand. The bleach highlights really do a number on your hair.
2. I wash and blow dry daily, and straighten 3-4 days a week. Make sure you have a ceramic straightener, and if you want to invest in a new one, an ionic-ceramic straightener.
3. When straightening, I apply Rusk's Thermal Str8 Protective Shine Tonic.A few drops go a long way, and it smells nice. You'll notice in a minute that I'm a fan of their stuff.
4. Before straightening, apply Rusk Thermal str8 Protective Flat Iron Spray to your hands, and pull through the ends. Not only does this protect, but it really seems to make my hair straighten faster, and I swear it seals out any drop of humidity. It really makes a difference in how my hair looks. However, it is a kinda heavy product. So...
5. I use Rusk's Thermal Str* Protective Shine Spray on my bangs so that they aren't too weighed down. (My stylist recommended all the products, and is also my mother-in-law, so I know she wasn't just trying to get me to buy product. Incidently, she gave me the first 2 products I listed, and suggested I trade my old straightener for a ceramic)
6. If you do have highlights, a nice polisher makes them extra shiney and helps condition them. I was using Rusk (the container isn't too hot, and I leaked tons of product), but am currently using Paul Mitchell's "Super Skinny Serum" and like it (no leaks yet)
7.After conditioning my hair in the shower, I use Rusk's (shocker, I know) Smoother. It's an orange leave-in that my MIL/stylist also recommended. It smells great and is also texturizing, which is great for short hair. In addition to this, I also use Redkin's Extreme Anti-Snap. It's a terrific product. It's much lighter than the smoother. I just put this on the ends, and put the smoother from the nape of my neck on down. (my hair is in choppy layers just past my shoulders, barely)
8. For deep conditioning I like Burt's Bees Avacado Butter Pre-Shampoo Hair Treatment and I like Redkin's All Soft Heavy Cream.
I bought the bulk of the items from Beauty First, if that helps.
I wasn't sure if you need to wash your hair everyday because it gets too oily or you need to get product out. Washing your hair everyday dries it out, making the scalp produce more oil. If you start washing your hair every other day, it will start to not get all nasty so quickly. I know it's best to wash hair every 3 days, but I can't go 2 days without washing it. Oh, and don't shampoo the ends, just the scalp. I also don't put conditioner on my scalp.
