I know I have been gaining weight, but I didn't think I would start to get strech marks. I notice these purple, line on my sides of my waist, and the top of my inner thighs. My father concluded my fears. I am so depressed, today marks the day I will start taking care of myself. Full force in exercise and eating right.

Any creams for strech marks you girls recommend???

Did some amateur research on the internet, seems like I still have time to treat this problem. I looke on Sephora.com for some creams, but not sure which one to choose. They are so expensive. Anything I can buy at my local grocery store???

Vitamin E oil is the best thing for any scaring including stretch marks.  First I would recommend taking a vitamin E pill (sometimes you can find C & E in one vitamin).  Anyway,  you can buy vitamin E oil at any drugstore or walmart/target by all the vitamins.  Just rub it on the marks and it will help them!  I have had several knee surgeries and this has always helped with stretch marks and scarring.

Thanks so much HeatherLynn,

could you please recommend me a certain product, or perhaps a product you have used in the past. Should I use both oil, and vitamin pills at the same time. Or would one method be just fine for me, sorry for all the questions.

Cocoa butter works too. When my mom worked in maternity ward they would recommend that to women.

My mom used when she was pregnant and claimed she had hardly any strech marks on her stomach.

We use Palmers and you can get it in grocery stores or pharmacies. It is cheap, so not hard to find.

I recommend the vitamins as well as the oil bc it never hurts to take those vitamins.  I take the ones with both vitamin C and E (combined tablet) because I do not get enough vitamin c.  You  can buy vitamin E mixed with almost any other vitamin so I would suggest getting it with one you need.  I picked those up at the local drug store  The brand I have is Spring Valley.  As far as the oil, I would just look on the vitamin aisle.  It will be in a bottle and is a yellowish oil.  I dont remember which brand I have used in the past but make sure that it is pure vitamin E oil.  Both the vitamins and the oil are pretty inexpensive.  Oh, and Ryanj suggest Coca Butter- that works well too because it has vitamin E in it.

Here are a few examples from walgreens.com that I have used:

This is just Vitamin E.  400 I. U. is what I take

You can buy Vitamin E gel caps (in the regular vitamin isle. Just make sure they're the gel kind), cut them open and squeeze the gooey stuff on the scar. I'm not sure if it's more or less effective than Vitamin E lotions, but that's what I used to do.

just a word of caution on the E oil and capsules--test it out on a small patch of skin before slathering yourself with it.  i had a pretty bad allergic reaction the first time i used it on a surgery scar.  i have been using a vitamin E cream (which i guess has a lower concentration) lately for a sunburn, and haven't had any problems.  i think the one i got was like $2, drugstore brand.
