I'm trying to figure out colors and schemes for my first apartment and I decided to start with the bathroom because it seems the easiest and what I can afford at the moment. I want to do a potter barn look in the bedroom but the darn duvet covers are $150 and I don't have anything to put a duvet on!
So here is what I picked out for the bathroom. Is it too plain and boring? Will I get tired of it after a few months? I have cream towels to start with and will probably add some maroon or black ones later on.
shower curtain bathroom accessories.
I keep getting 20% off at BB&B so it won't come out to be too expensive if I go with this.
Your idea is really cute, but I do believe you'll get tired of it and you should add more color. That's just my opinion though, but if you think otherwise I think it'll still look nice.
I think that I would just do the shower curtain and use a more neutral soap dispenser, etc then if you get tired of it you can just change the shower curtain for a new look.
One of my friends did this in her bathroom. She did what FashionPrincess suggested and used accessories that didn't match, but coordinated. She also bought a calendar with black and white pictures from France and cut them different sizes and framed them. Then, she hung them on her wall in a slightly random pattern. It looks really cool. My friend has had this in her bathroom for a year and she isn't tired of it yet.
Thanks for the suggestions. I went and looked at the stuff yesterday and it all looked pretty cute together. I just started out with the shower curtain and the hooks for it and held off on the rest just to see some other options.
I liked that picture idea with the black and whites. I will definetly have to look into it. Are there any websites that sell black and white pics for a good price?

I always find the best way to get good pics for cheap is to get a nice calendar and then just cut it up. Greeting cards work well too if you want smaller pictures.
I really like the shower curtain! In fact, I have a couple of hat boxes with that same motif.
I would probably just get the shower curtain but not the matching set of accessories. I've noticed that matching sets like that are popular in the US, though...
I'm thinking of getting something from West Elm for the bathroom in our next apartment. I think these resin ones would be very cute and would add some color to your bathroom:
i love it! i wouldn't get tired of it for a very long time as i think it is 100% adorable. i also like the idea of the b&w pics. too cute! congrats on your very first apt. lsu!
No way, that's what one of my bathrooms looks like!! Farrah got me the shower curtain and a couple of matching things for my last birthday. I had been complaining that I needed to change that bathroom after the ex moved - I wanted something more feminine. So I kept some of my old accessories (they're nicer, ivory crackled porcelain) which happen to match pretty well without being too matchy-matchy. I added color by using nice deep red towels and rugs. I also bought some Emily Adams prints on eBay to put up & framed them in cheap IKEA frames. Haven't quite gotten around to putting them up, but they're all ready to go, hee hee. Anyway, there is a lot of Emily Adams stuff on eBay, so check it out!
HTH! Let me know if you have any questions!

Yay!! That is what I bought Vanessa:). I love that bathroom set and if it were my bathroom I would do exactly what Vanessa did by accenting it with some great dark red towels to accent the curtain.
I really like that set also because it looks very chic. It reminds me of something you would see in a trendy NY minimalist loft.

Thanks! I'm so glad others love it also. I am planning on doing the dark red when I get some paychecks in the bank. I really wanted something chic and cool but not junior high-ish like my first idea (rubber duckies - I'm waiting till kids to do that one )
I would love other ideas for wall hangings and maybe bleeding over into the bedroom with this theme or something similar.
I love it!!! I agree not to get everything matching, but I have to admit to thinking that "dresser" toothbrush holder is about the cutest thing I've ever seen!! As a matter of fact, I want a picture like that red dress for my red / camel / black / leopard bedroom. I know it sounds awful, but I am loving it.
I know in BR you don't have a Kohls close, but maybe in Houston you will - they have great home accessories / pictures. Don't go by the website - what they have on there is always awful. Target has good black & white options too, I personally like that idea too! maybe you can matte them red?
I have to say, if you are going to do any of this before you move and you find prints, there is a GREAT place to frame / matte them at Essen & Perkins - it's called Daryl & sons - they have about 12 basic frames that you can chose from and they will single matte & frame up to an 16x20 for about $18 - it's INSANE!! They are based in Hammond & opened a store there, all my family does stuff there & I still bring my Christmas or cross stitch stuff there because that can just get so pricey. Just a heads up.

Thanks for the heads up laken. I probably won't do any pics until Sept/Oct so once I get some I'll have to check that place out since I'll probably come home once a month.
