Ladies who color their hair what brand do you use? I have been using bed head  brunette goddess and before that I used matrix color smart. I was thinking of using something different this time around.

Thanks

I just bought Color Vive over the weekend. Too soon to tell if it saves my color, but it smells good and my hair styled nicely.

I've been using John Freida Brilliant Brunette shampoos & conditioners for years (and have been coloring my hair for years too). Everyone I know who uses JF stuff (there are blonde and red versions as well) has been very happy. It isn't a color-depositing shampoo, but it is safe for colored hair. I think it's usually like $6/bottle but you can often find it on sale.

I second this.  I've used it for about 4 or 5 years now.  It smells great too.  I usually stock up when Ulta runs a buy 1 get 1 half off sale.

Thanks ladies, I will check into John Freida Brilliant Brunette. I have oily hair and someone told me this would weigh the hair down,  kelly, boots your thoughts?

I've never had that as an issue. And while my hair isn't oily, per se, I do wash it every day because it get's really sweaty when I work out. My hair is wavy and really thick, so that should be taken into consideration. If you have fine hair, maybe it will effect you differently.

I have used the Fekkai...however at this point I don't necessarily buy a shampoo especially for color treated hair. I think finding a really good shampoo withOUT sulfates is best. Phyto is one of them.

I don't think JF weighs it down at all if you get the right formula. I have fine hair that is super easy to weigh down, but I use both volumizing and smoothing versions without any problems. I tried out the moisturizing and shine-enhancing ones (I'm not ADD, my hair has changed a lot in the past few years!) but both of those weighed my hair down too much so I gave them away.

In fact that reason I switched to JF in the first place was because it was one of the bes volumizers I could find! (well at the time, who knows if something way better has come on the drugstore market since then) HTH!

P.S. If you do decide to get rid of sulfates like carmenb said, watch out to make sure your hair doesn't get super flat. A lot of the silicones that are in conditioners can only be easily removed with sulfates, so if you get rid of sulfates and your sulfate-free shampoo can't get rid of your silicones as well, it'll just stay on and gunk up your hair. I don't think it's a good reason to stay on sulfates if you really don't want to, but it's just something to remember.

Aveda Color Preserve...I got freaked out when my stylist told me that what I was using was stripping off my color so I switched to Aveda. Moroccan Oil is also great, I switch back and forth.

I got a sample of this and used it on my last out of town trip.  OMG - I LOVED it!  I went out and ordered it as soon as I got back.  I've used a lot of expensive brands and don't normally notice a big difference between brands - but WOW this made my hair so shiny and soft.

Copied from my response to the post about red hilights -

I dye my whole head red. My stylist has me wash every other day and use non-sulphate stuff (I use PureOlogy Hydrate shampoo & conditioner). Also, once a week I use a color depositing conditioner (ColorGlow Deep Reflects conditioner), and then approximately once a week I also do a deep conditioning mask (Redken Real Control). Red does fade the fastest, but this routine keeps it up pretty well so I only get color every 6 weeks. HTH!

UPDATE:  I got my order of this from Sephora.  I was a little worried that it wouldn't live up to how good it was on my trip since there is always different humidity and water when you are out of town.  I've been using it for several weeks now and I LOVE it!

It feels like I washed with a clarifying shampoo - it doesn't leave my finer, wavy hair weighed down, but it makes my color so shiny, like I just went to the salon.  My hair is heavily lightened though - so I'm not sure how it works for non-lightened hair.

LOVE IT - Best shampoo and conditioner I've ever used - and I've tried 'em all!
