Hey all- haven't posted in a while, but things have been SOOOO crazy!
On Wednesday (July 6th) I have a job interview, and I need a great pantsuit- I got a tattoo last month on my calve and I don't want to be unfairly judged because of it so it has to be a pantsuit- and I CANNOT find one. All I see in stores are bohemian skirts and skimpy tops. Where are all the suits??
PS- I'm in NYC

What about a long black skirt with a cute top/black blazer? My job used to be counseling people on finding jobs, improving their skills, etc., and for interviews we always suggested wearing a dress or skirt w/jacket, etc., rather than pants.
Why a skirt? I hate the way I look in long skirts, because I'm tall and not in the best shape right now, so I doubt I could pull off the look. Unless you can suggest one that won't make me look dowdy?

Those look really cute! I'm going online now to check them out, and then go shopping this weekend. And I'll try Penny's and Kohl's too- money's kind of tight as you can guess.

i've never heard that about skirt suits either, except for very old-school conservative types of businesses, like banks. will you explain--now i wonder if i'm ignorant of some obvious fashion rule!
i've always worn pantsuits for interviews, mostly because i feel dowdy in a skirt suit and feel like i can accessorize and by more stylish in a pants one. i just feel more confident/like myself. was i sending a bad message about myself?
i've heard that only skirt suits to interview rule--the career center at my law school used to push it. to be honest, i think it might be an atiquated notion. one of my friends always used to say she shouldn't have to show a little leg to get a job. anyway, i think whatever you feel most comfortable in is what you should wear. i've gotten jobs wearing skirt suits or pant suits and also gotten rejected wearing skirt suits or pant suits. so who knows, you know?
anyway, good luck baglady! it was nice to hear from you, keep us posted!
well it was a while ago when i worked there, and it was for people who really didn't have any experience at all, or very little, so, i agree that it probably is really outdated! I love the pant suits Collette posted, I would definitely go with one of them...so cute!
