pretty much just a decent one, although I asked him what features he would like if he got one and he said color, compatable with the weight wathcers program (it downloads from their site), and capable of memory upgrade.

Ok the bf checked at work and basically the sales guy couldn't recommend anything under $250. He said the ones that he carried (at Circuit City) just weren't worth the money you were paying if you went under $200. The 2 he recommended which you may be able to find cheaper online were:

Palm Zier 72 (sp??) which is $300

and

Palm E2 which is $250.

I may have the models wrong so I can check again if you have problems. If you have specific questions just PM Retro and he can tell you exactly what the guy said to him.

thanks! I was actually looking at the E2 a little and from what I could tell it looked good, so I think I'm going to go with that. I also found it for a bit cheaper ($199 on the palm website, I think its being discontinued) and on ebay (don't know if I'm brave enough to do that for a gift thuough...)

Oh good! Maybe check amazon also if it is being discontinued. They sometimes have good deals. I don't know if i could do ebay either on this one.

If your guy also carries a cellphone, I highly recommend a Treo 600. It's a full Palm, with camera, and a full phone. It's a little more expensive than a Zire, but if he can trade in his cell phone it's a great machine and a great deal.
