Stringing lights?
Permalink Closed

We have a pergola in our backyard. It looks similar to the picture. Except all the sides are open there are no trellis.

We want to string lights on the pergola. We have some over our deck in a zig zag pattern and it looks kind of like lights you would see strung over head in Rome in outside cafes- the Olive Garden has them too. The lights are big bulbs that look like the picture except the string is black.

We can't figure out how we want to string them or if we even do. Should we string them around the perimeter of the pergola or string them underneath it? Our backyard is pretty large and the pergola is far enough away that it shouldn't look like too much w/ the deck lights. We sit underneath the pergola and my mom thought lights would look cute.

Any suggestions? Thanks?

I would probably string the lights in a random pattern underneath the pergola so it would feel like sitting under the starry sky. I love clear string lights like that - I think they're called fairy lights in the UK...
