I actually really liked Melinda, surprisingly. She has been compared to Sarah or Trishelle on the mtv message boards- but I think the difference is that she seems to have real confidence, just wants to have fun, and doesn't seem the type to hang onto a guy pathetically who doesn't want her back. Which is what I like about her- it seems that her and Danny just have super strong natural chemistry. She actually kind of reminds me of a sexier, less goody goody version of Cameron. The one that reminds me of Sarah is Johanna- she seems like she just only wants attention and wants to be like Melinda and kissed Danny when he wasn't even really into her. Ugh. You could tell she was annoyed with Melinda when she came down in the outfit with the tall boots, and was like, why don't you guys come up and watch me get dressed? I feel bad for Lacey, she doesn't seem to fit in or want to be there. I also felt bad for Nehemiah- what the heck, Johanna is such a mean drunk. Wes, eh. Rachel, eh. I'm most interested in Melinda and Danny.

Okay, I'll admit it, I watched. This season actually looks like it might be decent.

I agree that Melinda seems like a crazier version of Cameron (that was my first thought). She's more confident than Trishelle or Sarah (who drove me batty). Danny is the cutest!! What a crappy way for him to start his RW experience, though. Poor thing. Lacey reminds me of Frankie and we all know what happened to her. But I like Lacey better than Frankie (so far). Johanna is a nutty, nasty drunk! Someone needs to reign her in. I felt bad for Nehemiah. That sucked. He was just trying to help Johanna and she went ape-s*%& on him. Wes and Rachel didn't do anything too exciting, but I'm waiting for that freaking "I'm a soldier" freakout from Rachel.

This season definitely looks better than the past few. There hasn't been a really good season since Vegas. Paris, San Diego and Philly sucked.

Actually - that's a really good point - Melinda is confident, where Sarah was not, and Sarah drove me nuts hanging on MJ all the time. I'm not saying I don't like Melinda at all. I agree - I was already annoyed w/Johanna. Actually, I thought Danny was a little weird the way he's so into Melinda already. I mean everytime they showed him he was staring at her w/his jaw open. Plus, he's totally trying to break her and her bf up!

You're welcome - it just stared yesterday, so you can catch the reruns all day long on MTV - LOL.

I agree, it looks like it is going to be much better than the past few. Alot of it has to do with the location, too, and since Austin is such a cool place I think it will make the show more interesting. I wonder where they are going to be given jobs. They didn't say anything about that in the previews did they?

Of course I watched it! did you catch the next previews where Melinda is kissing the other guy w/the blonde hair in their pool?!?! and then Johanna gets all upset about the other roomate kissing him too, I guess she starts liking him more than Danny, maybe she knew she'd have no hope with Danny............

At the end of the episode it showed previews for the rest of the season. They are going to be making a documentary for the big music fest that comes to Austin every year.

oh my god, that was so annoying! i kept yelling at the tv, "dude! have you never seen a girl before??" he was totally oogling her and i thought it was kinda creepy. but she was obviously loving the attention. why was she prancing around in her underwear and knee-high boots? who does that???

haha, i know. It was kind of weird the way he kept staring at her. She seems like the typical male fantasy kind of girl. But for some reason, it works for her.

I think this is a pretty good cast, but does anyone else think that the cast gets more and more immature? I mean, surely they watched previous series of Real World, will they ever learn that it's the alcohol, not the personalities, that creates the drama? It's kind of annoying to watch drunks season after season. First impression? The coolest guy is Nehemiah (sp?).

I think Melinda is too good looking to be acting like such a freak. She would get just as much attention if she were subtle about it, but instead she is obnoxious and it actually takes away from her good looks in my opinion. She's definitely a nymph like she said.

Danny and the blond dude are just plain dorks, not attractive to me at all. My all time favorite Real World guy was Jamie from New Orleans. My fave girl was Melissa from New Orleans. I think that was the best season ever. Philly and San Diego were maybe the worst.

I am with you lorelei Jaime was one of the best. I also thought Steven from Vegas was a cutie. I don't see why all of the girls are on those guys either. Thanks HeatherLynn. That will be cool if they document the music festival. Should be a very entertaining real world. Let's hope so, the last few I have lost interest on.

Totally agree! They do keep getting more and more immature. I don't even watch the Real world anymore. Why can't they switch it up from Jock, whore, dork, black, ethnic, outcast and make it like and all girl or all guy cast or something a little different for once. When Melinda was like " this is my promise ring and I really love sex and stuff" I was like promise ring my ass! And then her and Rachel were like "lets kiss!" I hate those girls with a passion! You know Melinda is just dying for attention when she is sitting alone in her room thinking "hey I am totally going to like put on a bustier and knee high boots and go out there and like, I don't know, like show them how hot I am" Can she seem any more desperate?? She is really pretty, if she didn't prance around like a whore all the time she would seem much more interesting and mysterious to the guys. Her excitement is going to wear out real fast.

Real World is just not fun anymore! It's almost as bad as room raiders or one of those dull dating shows. I am sad the inferno 2 is over. Now that was drama!!

I'm jumping on this late but oh well. I usually hate the real world (although I somehow still end up seeing most of them on endless reruns that mtv airs), but this year it was filmed in MY town so i'm all over it.

i saw them out filming, have been to the house numerous times (not inside though), have a friend who helped decorate the house, etc.

here's a little fyi: what's surprising about the rw isn't the cast themselves (they're like they are on tv - stupid and drunk) but the crew. woah baby! hot producers, cameramen, etc. and so young! i guess it's a good thing to do if you want to get into the biz - beats me.

and i'd like to defend austin a bit and say that yes, there is more than ONE black person in this city and if you ran down 6th street asking which way he went no one would know unless he was followed by a camera crew (as was the case here).

AND i've been going out downtown for years and years (hmmm... i sound old) and fighting is a very rare occurrence. not sure what happened that night but i heard about it here when it happened. big news. austin is a lover, not a fighter. we're full of hippies, man!
