Right now I'm working as a legal secretary, but I'm really burnt out and needing to find something else to do. I was thinking about going to school and getting certified as a medical assistant. Can anyone offer any advice?
I don't think I would need very much schooling, I think it would just be a short certification program through a local university. I know I wouldn't be making as much money, but I'm not really worried about that. I just need to find something that I would be happy doing, and I think I might enjoy this. It seems like I would be able to be flexible as far as where I wanted to work, what type of practice, etc.
Any feedback would be very much appreciated...or even if you have another job suggestion. I just know that I can't take being a legal secretary for the rest of my life!
My SIL is a medical assistant. You don't even have to go to school for it -- she started out in a doctor's office doing billing and they trained her to be a med asst. She really likes it. She works part time, but makes pretty good money. She always wanted to be a nurse, but never finished college, so this was a good option for her.
It's not for everyone, though. I couldn't stand being around all those injuries/wounds/needles. LOL
