Runaway Bride interview
Permalink Closed

Did anyone else watch it? I was not impressed. I didn't think she was that remorseful. In the words of my father, "she's just a stupid, little redneck girl." The same goes for her fiance. It makes me sick they profitted from selling the rights to their lives.

I loved how she said she was such a perfectionist and always had to please everyone. Ummm, a perfectionist would have finished college and would not have shoplifted multiple times, much less cause the uproar she did.

Her comment justifying 14 bridesmaids was absurd. At her age, that many is just ridiculous. I bet most of her "beloved friends" already are married and have kids and could have cared less about being a part of the pagentry.

The most gag-inducing moment was when she said it hurt her when people called her the runaway bride and she wanted to people to call her "friend" or Jennifer.

My catty comment... she has really bad skin.

And I loved how Katie closed by saying all of the gifts were in a bedroom at the boyfriend's home and if the wedding doesn't happen they will be sent back. If I was a guest, I would be upset and want my gift back NOW because obviously the wedding didn't go on and they are holding my present hostage.

Now, if there is a tv movie... who do you think should play Jennifer?

i saw bits & pieces but i got bored so i flipped around.  she's just annoying & i feel like if she would lie about being kidnapped & she's a shop lifter, what would make her suddenly go on tv & be honest?  i just felt like it was a pub. stunt to get good PR before her movie comes out... and come on, what the heck is w/ those bug eyes?  even as a small child she had them in some pics (but not others, maybe it happened around 7 or 8??).  as for who should play her, maybe lara flynn boyle (w/ a tan)... she'd need toothpicks to hold her eyes open tho!

SHE IS SO ANNOYING. i think she's a liar. she tried to sound like she was crying the entire time but didn't have one tear the entire show, even when she was talking about wanting to kill herself.

and for who should play her, i vote tori spelling. she has those wide eyes.

o ya!  i totally noticed that too... like she was trying to be all serious & emotional but it seemed totally fake like she made it up after the fact so people would feel sorry for her.  i think if it was real then she would have been saying that from day one & she would have at least shed one tear when retelling the story!

LOL sfclinevandy my catty commet is: she's only like 33 or something and she looks 40.

I didn't watch it (the 100 Best Movie Lines was on at the same time and it was WAY more interesting), but I did see about a minute of it, where she was "crying" and said something like, "who wants to talk about these kinds of personal things in public?" Well, obviously you, or you wouldn't be on TV with Katie Couric, you dumb b*tch!

I had no interest in what she had to say after seeing a clip on the Today show.  I didn't want to support her in her quest for more publicity.

She's a spoiled brat. I would have a little sympathy for her if this wedding event was something that she was pressured into, but she admitted herself that she wanted the gigantic wedding.

I also don't appreciate that she never apologized for saying her accusers were Hispanic -- completely unneccessary IMHO.

Also, her fiance is a tool. I hated how he answered half the questions for her. I wish Diane Sawyer had done the interview -- Katie Couric has no cajones when it comes to interviews.

That lady has CRAZY EYES! I knew she was lying about being abducted as soon as I saw those eyes, she doesn't seem to blink! It was funny when her story came out about the white woman and hispanic man that abducted her, because i am white and my husband is hispanic. I told him that crazy fool was going to have the authorities checking us out!!! I think that she should apologize for that statement, but it just makes her look like a racist idiot!!

I only watched the first half hour and then I couldn't take it anymore.

Was anyone else creeped out when she said that she STILL kisses her dad on the lips?  GROSS!  I don't mean to offend anyone here, but I was always taught that kissing on the lips is only for mommy and daddy and we were to kiss our loved ones (relatives) on the cheeks.  Ewww!

omg, i totally forgot to mention that!  when i watched that part i thought that was kinda odd.  i mean, i know i've heard of it before so maybe it's more common where she's from or something, but i was always taught the same thing... u kiss relatives on the cheek!!  now, i don't know if i'm remembering this correctly, but i swear britney kissed her dad on the lips when he gave her away at the wedding shown on upn... anyone else see this?  i found that creepy too!

Kissing is pretty regional and cultural.  Most of my family is from the french areas of eastern Canada, they always kiss on the lips.  Some of them considered hugging much more intimate than a peck on the lips.

Anyway...I didn't catch the interview, I saw the recaps on the Today show and Access Hollywood.  I'm being judgemental and harsh, but I hate this woman.  I think she's a complete princess.  I have no pity for her whatsoever.  All that talk about societal pressures, get some balls woman, we all have pressure.  I've seen real depression and people w/ mental problems, I think she's just trying to make excuses for doing something completely selfish.

Yeah, before I watched the interview I was like OK, maybe she really does have some sort of mental problem that caused to do what she did.  But I think the interview damaged any credibility (if she even had some) she may have had.  I don't feel sorry for her one bit.

YES!!!  i noticed this too and was grossed out!!  i don't kiss either of my parents on the lips, but a lot of people in my family do.  it just makes me uncomfortable to do that.  my cousins will kiss my grandma on the lips when they say goodbye and their parents too, and my dad wanted to do that with my brother and me but we said no, that it felt wrong to us, and he understood.  now i just made my dad sound like a child molester but i swear it wasn't like that.

before, when this whole runaway bride thing first happened, i felt sympathy for her and thought she'd probably cracked under a huge amount of pressure from family and her fiance.  but after reading this account i have no sympathy at all.  she sounds completely selfish and off her rocker.  can you imagine doing that yourself?  no way.  she should apologize to everyone who worried and searched for her, not to mention the hispanic community.
