I want a vintage style room and i want to hang pin up pictures. (this is for a bedroom) my bedset is red and my head board is black and gold iron. I also have a red chase lounge. Does any one have any decorating ideas?
Here are some ideas that can help you achieve the look that I think you want.
Glamorous lamps and lighting. Some crystal accents here and there. Old Hollywood, you know? Black and white striping in well-chosen places (could be anything from pillows to tablecloth to wallpaper - etc.).
Oo! You should find subtle and maybe whimsical ways to incorporate hosiery-inspired accents. Maybe the lampshades feature extremely sheer overlays that have been ruched or shirred a little- - reminiscent of silk stockings. -- like on this dress: http://24ktstyle.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/jill-stuart-dress-sheer-overlay.jpeg
Modern home accessories that feature lace graphics
black piping on upholstery - - like a stocking backseam.
* Do you have a source for your pinup posters? I say -- thin black frames. Unique prints that share something in common - a color, a similar layout, interesting interpretation of pinups....etc.
You could also reference a pair of classic Laboutin pumps with the red sole and black upper. Don't know how, but you get the idea.
God. I haven't used my imagination for something fun in so long! Thanks!
I would look for a vintage vanity/makeup table with an upholstered stool. You can paint it black or whatever if it's not in great shape. I see tons of them on Craigslist and eBay and thrift stores.
Frilly curtains or drapes - need not be expensive, but window coverings make such a big difference.
Touches of animal print?
A collection of mirrors in ornate frames - again paint 'em all glossy black. Or maybe that's more "goth" than pinup.
Yeah, I'm on the same page with Suasoria. What's the wall color? With so much red furniture pieces & bright posters I'd suggest ( if you paint at all) a light peachy cream - has a vintage warm feel to it. Or warm medium grey.
Thank you for all the great ideas. I think I know where to start now. BTW my walls are cream colored. I was thinking of maybe doing a grey wall. Not sure yet.
